Suzuki has launched the 2017 GSX-R1000 in India at Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).The litre-class superbike is also available in a higher-spec performance-focussed version called the GSX-R1000R, priced at Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Suzuki Ecstar rider Alex Rins highsided off his motorcycle at the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas, resulting in a broken left wrist. This incident occurred at turn 19 during his first timed lap in the third free practice session in the run up to the race.

Suzuki big bike dealerships have started accepting bookings for the 2017 GSX-R1000, for a token amount of Rs 3 lakh. Featuring a new engine and chassis, the litre-class superbike will be available in two versions, the standard GSX-R1000 and the performance-oriented GSX-R1000R. 

Yoshimura has launched a new range of exhaust systems for the 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000. Called Alpha T, this range offers a louder sound track of the motorcycle while significantly boosting power output and torque spread.

Suzuki has finally revealed the prices of its new litre-class bike – the GSX-R1000. The GSX-R1000 gets a price tag of £13,249 (Rs 11.11 lakh) and the higher-spec GSX-R1000R is priced at £16,099 (Rs 13.51 lakh).

Suzuki has revealed its GSX-R1000 2017 year model, and it has a host of new features. The headline figure, of course, is a metric horsepower figure of over 200, which works out to 199bhp, which is the standard now. 

Alex Rins will join Andrea Iannone in Team Suzuki Ecstar’s MotoGP campaign for 2017 and 2018. Having replaced both its riders, Suzuki will now enter the 2017 MotoGP season with an all-new rider line-up.

Just more than a month ago, we told you about Kawasaki planning to supercharge more motorcycles. Now, according to leaked patent images and rumours Suzuki is working on a supercharged GSX-R750 and GSX-R1000. According to international media, both bikes are expected to appear in Suzuki’s line-up for 2017.

Suzuki has roped in freestyle stunt rider Aras Gibieza for its inaugural Suzuki Gixxer Day tour in India. The two-time European stunting riding champion will be performing in nine cities across the country between April 15 and May 14.

Suzuki may have fallen behind the current crop of litre-class motorcycles with the ageing GSX-R 1000, however, the brand has just unveiled an all-new generation model which intends to put the Japanese brand back in the game with the big boys.
