The Harley-Davidson X440 is the first, single-cylinder motorcycle that was launched by the company in India. The bike has been co-developed with Hero MotoCorp and is aimed at taking on the might of Royal Enfield’s Classic 350.
The motorcycle is available in three variants. The base model uses single-tone paint and comes with wire-spoke wheels. Then, the mid version gets alloy wheels and a dual-tone finish. Meanwhile, the top-spec model comes loaded with premium features such as diamond-cut alloy wheels, Bluetooth connectivity, and 3D logos. The Bluetooth module brings the turn-by-turn navigation function to the top model.
The looks of the bike are one of the biggest highlights of the X440. Bits like the round headlight with integrated Harley-Davidson branding, wide fuel tank, and the chunky tank panels add visual appeal. The other elements of the bike that grab attention include a single-pod instrument cluster, flat handlebar, side-slung exhaust, machined alloy wheels, and retro-style round indicators.
The Harley-Davidson X440 is powered by a 440cc, single-cylinder, oil and air-cooled engine with a two-valve setup that makes 27bhp at 6,000rpm and 38Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm.
Under the bodywork lies a steel trellis frame, and it uses 43mm upside-down front forks and gas-charged, preload-adjustable twin rear shocks to handle the suspension duties. The braking tasks are taken care of by single disc brakes on both wheels, while the safety systems comprise a dual-channel ABS and a side-stand engine cut-off function.
The Harley-Davidson X440 is available in four colours- Mustard Denim, Vivid Dark Silver, Vivid Thick Red, and S-Matter Black.
It goes up against the Hero Mavrick 440, Triumph Speed 400, and the Royal Enfield Classic 350.

X440 Built to Ride, Made to Feel

The Harley-Davidson X440 is a bike that I really like because it has a strong road presence and a different character. The 440cc engine has good torque, especially in city riding and highway rides. The design is another big plus, it looks muscular and premium without being too flashy. The riding position is comfortable, and the bike feels stable on long rides. The Harley brand and exhaust note also give it a special feeling.Pros:• Powerful 440cc engine with good low-end torque• Very good road presence and attractive design• Comfortable for long rides• Stable handling and good braking• Premium Harley-Davidson feelCons:• Bike feels heavy, especially in traffic and parking• Mileage is not the best compared to smaller bikes• Some vibrations can be felt at higher RPM• Not the easiest bike for beginners• Maintenance and ownership costs can be higherOverall, X440 may not be perfect, but it gives something more than just transportation. For me, it's a bike that makes you want to ride it.

If riding is therapy for you, then the Harley is your therapist!

After spending months researching the best thumper that I could put my money to, I finally decided to get the Harley. It’s the best thumper engine in the country, both city-focused and touring-focused.The rumble from the exhaust is beautiful. It talks to you throughout, through the beautiful rumble of its exhaust. You will feel a little bit of vibration when you pull that throttle, and that's exactly how the Harley makes you feel alive. It has a lot of character to offer; you feel like you’re riding something substantial. If you’re just looking for city riding, then you can even consider the 350 cc engines offered by Royal Enfield and Triumph, but if you’re looking for a touring-focused engine as well, then anything above 400 cc is what you would need, which puts this Harley engine against the likes of the famous parallel twin 650 engine from the Royal Enfield. I rode the REs as well, but did not find this much character from the twin motor of the Royal Enfield. They felt a bit too refined. The RE suspension is a big turn-off, especially in a country like ours, but RE definitely wins in the dealership experience it offers. If you can look past it and focus on the motorcycle that you will actually experience every single day, you might make a better choice. And that’s why, my friend, I put my money on the Harley, plus ended up saving a lakh and a half in the process.Get it, it’s therapy!

Harley-Davidson X440 Ownership: A Complete Nightmare
10 weeks ago
Ashish Ranjan
My experience with Harley-Davidson India has been extremely disappointing. If you are considering buying a Harley, don’t just look at the motorcycle, look at the after-sales support as well.My bike has been waiting for parts for over 5 months, and despite repeated follow-ups and emails, I have received no clear timeline or meaningful response. The lack of communication and accountability has been frustrating. What makes the situation worse is the service support under the Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp collaboration. If a critical component such as the TCU (Telematics Control Unit) is damaged or requires replacement, be prepared for a potentially long and uncertain wait and visiting harley service centre. In my case, the delay has stretched for 5 months with no satisfactory resolution yet.Supply issues can happen with any manufacturer, but customers deserve transparency, regular updates, and realistic timelines. Keeping a motorcycle off the road for months while providing little or no communication is not the level of support one expects from a premium brand.I hope Harley-Davidson India and its service network take customer support more seriously and improve parts availability, communication, and ownership experience for existing customers

The Harley X440 is honestly a total vibe. If you’re around 30, living in a busy Indian city, and want a ride that looks badass but won't give you a backache in peak traffic, this bike hits the sweet spot. It completely nails that big-bike, retro-cool look without feeling like a heavy tank. The best part is how it behaves on the road. The engine has this amazing low-end punch, which basically means you can slip through chaotic city traffic in third gear without the bike stuttering or complaining. It feels super agile, handles potholes like a boss, and when the weekend hits, you can easily hit the highway for a road trip. It gives you that classic, deep Harley exhaust note that turns heads at traffic lights, but it is as reliable and easy to live with as a regular commuter. It’s the perfect upgrade if you want premium bragging rights without the headache of a massive, unmanageable machine. If you want to keep chatting about it, let me know:* Do you want to know about the on-road price and mileage in India?* Should we compare it to the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 or the Triumph Speed 400?* Want to look at the best accessories for weekend touring?

Best bike must buy this bike very good

Bike is very good and i am used 6 months and its mailage goes to 42km/L must buy this bike After using the Harley-Davidson X440 for around 6 months, the bike feels powerful, comfortable, and stylish for daily riding as well as highway touring. Its 440cc engine delivers strong low-end torque, making city rides smooth and highway cruising enjoyable around 80–100 kmph. Many owners appreciate the deep exhaust sound, relaxed riding posture, and premium road presence. The bike is comfortable for long rides, and the seat ergonomics are good for the rider. Mileage is generally around 27–33 kmpl depending on riding style and traffic conditions. Service costs are also manageable because of Hero MotoCorp support. However, there are some drawbacks noticed after months of usage. The bike feels slightly heavy in traffic for beginners. Some owners reported hard gear shifting, engine heat in summer traffic, front suspension stiffness, and average rear brake performance. Service quality also depends on the dealership, as some users faced delays and poor support experiences. Overall, the Harley-Davidson X440 is a great choice for riders who want a premium cruiser with strong road presence, comfortable riding posture, and enjoyable torque performance. It may not be the fastest bike in the segment, but it offers a unique Harley feel at a practical price for Indian roads.

True power and torque

After riding my Harley X440 for over 7,000 kilometers, I can confidently say it strikes a solid balance between everyday usability and long-distance comfort. In city conditions like Bangalore, the bike feels surprisingly manageable. Despite weighing around 195 kg, it never feels cumbersome. The weight is well distributed, and the balance is excellent, making it easy to maneuver through traffic and tight spaces without fatigue. This is something that really stands out, especially if you’re used to lighter motorcycles. On highways, the X440 truly comes into its own. It feels planted, stable, and confidence-inspiring at higher speeds. Long rides are comfortable, and the bike maintains a smooth and relaxed cruising nature, which makes covering distances enjoyable rather than tiring.Fuel efficiency has also been quite reasonable for a bike in this segment. In city riding conditions, I’ve been getting around 28 km/l, and on highways, it has gone up to as much as 37 km/l, which is impressive considering the performance and size of the motorcycle.Overall, the Harley X440 has proven to be a versatile machine—equally capable in city commutes and highway touring, with a well-balanced ride and respectable mileage to back it up.

I bought it from the showroom, and their services are good. The bike feels different from normal bikes. The bike provides me with respect and an amazing performance. It is fast and furious and good at riding. I used to maintain it properly, and it also provided me with good experience. It catches people's attention. I fell very well while riding it.

False Commitments and Poor Service Quality
16 weeks ago
Subhash Balharaa
My experience with the Harley-Davidson X440 has been extremely disappointing, especially when it comes to service support. The bike may look premium, but the after-sales service is far from satisfactory. For the past two months, I have been continuously following up regarding an issue with my bike, yet no proper resolution has been provided. Instead, I have only received repeated assurances and false promises. When I was told that the required spare parts were available and sent my bike for repair, I later found out that the parts were not available at all. This kind of misleading communication and poor coordination is completely unacceptable. It reflects a serious lack of professionalism and customer care. A brand like Harley-Davidson is expected to deliver not only a good product but also dependable service, which is clearly missing here. The collaboration with Hero MotoCorp does not seem to have improved the service experience. In fact, the overall ownership experience feels compromised due to poor support and parts availability.Overall, I regret my decision. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to think carefully before choosing this bike. Even comparatively brands like Royal Enfield offer a much more reliable ownership experience.

The bike is good, and the mileage is decent. Pick up is very good most powerful bike ever ridden. I love the bike. I suggest purchasing the bike if he wants monster-like power. Looks are also good. I must recommend the bike. Do not go for other bikes, you will regret it. At last, you must buy the pass and ride the mountain easily.

I have had a horrible customer experience in Harley-Davidson customer care even a single part like a footpeg arrives after 6 months and the customer care is very irresponsible and unresponsive. They are also asking me to wait for 2 months to fix a manufacturing default in the bike. Please don't buy at Harley Davidson
