The suzuki gixxer was the first major break for the japanese manufacturer in the indian market at the 150cc segment. The first model was released around the same time when the leader among indian 150cc motorcycles, yamaha fz got an upgrade and a fresh model finally made it to the market. Despite that, the gixxer became every major bike reviewers top pick in the segment. With the naked sports look, elevated gas tank, aggressive styled exhaust and a powerful 155cc engine that delivered around 14 psi at 8000rpm,it proved to be the best performing bike in its class, both in the looks and the performance department. In my personal experience, the gixxer was game changing for the budget segment of Indian market. I got my hands on a bike that gave actual performance and was affordable at the same time. It was actually fun to drive this sleek machine around despite being a lower cc bike. However, it is strictly age group oriented in my opinion. The seating position is a bit sporty and since it was only meant for city rides, back support isn't a luxury you can enjoy, as it is among most motorcycles if this type. Pillion riding is better than most of its counterparts, but not very comfortable at the least. However, the handling and suspension somewhat makes up for this. City traffic and roads are not much of a problem and driving is fairly easy even in heavy traffic conditions. Once you pull out to better roads however, the gixxer can finally show you why it was considered the best in the 150cc segment. With a top speed of 114kmph, for me personally, it took approximately 10-15 sec to reach 100 on an average. From experience, once it touches 103-105, the engine hits a plateau and you'll only reach 114 if you're at it for some considerable time. However, coupled with the great acceleration and stability, i always have fun pushing the bike to its limits. Additionally, my average mileage was around 40-45 kmpl. On the maintenance side, i personally did not have much of an issue. Apart from the recommended timed servicing and general maintenance, i did not face any problems. In conclusion i'd definitely recommend the bike to anyone looking for a fun bike with a budget and list the following pros and cons:Pros:Great performance Fairly good handling. Sleek looks, Low maintenance Cons:Seating comfort Mileage, Plastic parts.

Bought my bike in December 2019.
    Pros
Ride quality is one of the best in the segment. Handling and rider seating is so good.
    Good mileage around 45kmpl.
The top speed I tested 119kmph but I can say that it can cross 120kmph speed.
    .
    Never felt any vibrations.
    Cons
Gear shifting is not at all good. For a bike that's so beautiful and performs so well the gearbox is a big negative issue.
Given the height of the back seat, it is not viable for family people

I am using gixxer 155 for past five years. I had lot of doubts when i chose suzuki regarding their after service n lesser road presence but believe me i m completely satisfied owning this bike till date. Maintenance cost is considerably less when compared to previous bike (pulsar). It gives smooth power delivery in the midrange btw 60-90 km/hr. Handling the bike in city traffic is quite easy. Gixxer is ergonomically the best street bike in india. Pros : engine performance and efficiency. Cons : firm suspension and rough gearbox

Low maintenance with good mileage and great looks.
    Easy to handle.
Parts are of good quality material.
Have used it for long trip in hills. Off-road performance is okay. Continuously ride it for around 350 kms at 80-90 km/h.
Above 100, there is a bit of noise from the Weiser.
Overall its the best option one can go for.
    Thanks Suzuki.

I have been waiting for the gixxer 2019 model eagerly and it disappointed me in every aspects. Service is worst. Pros: great performance, braking and mileage. Cons: poor seating for rider as well as pillion, rider has to hit the tank very time he applies the brake. Price is 2k more the fzs 3.0. Many suggested me to go with fzs v3 but i went with gixxer and its worst. If you are planning a bike for daily commuting and occasional trips go with fzs or rtr 1604v.

Back in 2015, i did lot of market study of available options in 150 cc segment and went ahead for gixxer 155. There were 3 prime criteria's of my decision making: 1. Refinement 2. Longevity 3. Low budget maintenance Things which i didn't focus were: 1. Power 2. Dimensions 3. Service network. Honest feedback/thoughts after 5 years of ownership: 1. The refinement: of the engine is top-notch. I've ridden it in city commute, toured with more than 400+ km in single day with all-terrain and never has the engine shown any signs of breaking a sweat. 2. Handling - is easy with good predictability to keep it's line. It may sometime make you nervous in corners due to braking feedback from the breaks as mrf stock tyres are prone to lock and slippage. In a straight line, average speeds of 75 kmph and 80 kmph is the sweet spot, anything after this speed, the engine resists the acceleration. In short, low and mid-range is something which keeps you happy and top-end isn't it's the likeness. 3. Stance/rider triangle is excellent for a city commute, for touring anything beyond 2-3 hours of continuous riding soar your bottom and shoulders. I'm 5'9 ft and handling for me is super comfort. If you are 5'10 ft and above, you might find yourself cramped.4. Mileage: city is 40 kmpl / highway is 45 kmpl (average cruising speed below 75 kmph). Anything above it, fuel efficiency drops proportionally to average speed. 5. Maintenance: while suzuki's service network is not so spread-out, i have found them at many places during my tours. Spare part are 15%-20% more costly than hero / bajaj but they last good for the price. And average service (excluding any extra repairs) would cost you inr 700-800 with oil change. Summing up: Hits: - refinement of engine - build quality - maintenance cost- riding stance and handling. Miss- braking / tyres - seating comfort (in tours only)- once you mature as a rider, you would long for extra power :)Motorcycle stats: Purchased: feb'2015 odo reading: 41500+ kms Best mileage: 47 kmpl Worst mileage: 36 kmpls Average (city): 40 kmpl Average (highway): 45 kmplAvg. Service cost: inr 700-800 (with oil change)

  • Suzuki gixxer honest user review

    Alved Benny
