Delhi-based two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp, has registered a jump of eight per cent in the overall sales in June 2014 compared to the corresponding month last year. The company sold more than 5.41 lakh units in the last month, helping it retain the top position in the Indian two-wheeler market.

It has been two years since Hero MotoCorp’s split with its long-term joint venture partner, Honda. And contrary to what most of its critics predicted, it has retained its top position in the Indian two-wheeler market. Earlier this year, the company showcased a host of motorcycles from different segments which showed its urge to keep evolving. Now, it has been revealed that Hero MotoCorp is planning to eventually start manufacturing four-wheelers and commercial vehicles along with two-wheelers.

The ban was imposed in February 2014 to lift up the country’s automobile industry. This development will benefit Bajaj Auto, one of the country’s largest two-wheeler exporters.
