  • Himalayan = torque 35k kms ownership review with pros and cons

    Sriram

    Hey friends,
People who are looking out for an adventure tourer should consider checking out the Himalayan once. The bike is built in a way where there exists a word "zaaappppp". I own the Himalayan bs-4, which is absolutely so much lovely to ride. The bike has dual channel abs which are now switchable in the current versions of Himalayan. We cannot expect electronics in this bike, but a guy who likes acceleration and crunchy off-road experiences should definitely. For this budget royal enfield is providing with a navigator system which is a good start for royal enfields, but as an owner, i had to purchase accessories from off market and from royal enfield oem products too. Overall, the service cost is comparatively cheap than other adventure tourer bikes. While honda has given their entry-level adventure tourer the cb-200x, it doesn't have the power that the himalayan has, but has upside-down forks, which has it's own pros and cons. Himalayan is one good torqu-y machine that pulls us soo good. I have driven for about 35000 kms now, all I could say is, that I still love my ride and I still feel it's day one when I start my bike from my parking. Talking about mileage, the important part for an adventure tourer, on highways, maintaining an average speed of 85-95kmph, the bike gives you about 40 kmpl, but in cities the mileage drops down to 30-33kmpl, the least I have got is 30 kmpl after riding in he busiest roads of chennai.
    Pro:
    1) ride quality.
    2) mileage on highways.
    3) cheaper maintenance cost.
    4) easy availability of after-market accessories and parts.
    Cons :
    1) mileage and heat from the engine in cities.
    2) tube tires are not very helpful in certain conditions.
    3) gear shifts when riding inside cities are cranky.
    4) halogen lamps.
I hope this helps you guys in some way with your selection of a ride that's gonna give you breathtaking memories in life.
    Happy riding, guys !!

  • There are no pros only cons !!!! fake premium extended warranty

    Akash Raj

    1. Buying experience:
While buying this bike everything looked ok and the staff was so generating trying to sell this bike, but you will come to know about the issues only after you own it. They also tried to sell a "premium extended warranty" which is a scam.. Will tell in detail during the review.
    2. Riding experience
The top speed is 120 kmph , keeps stalling, lot of teething issues, you will be spending around 2.5 lakhs and end up with the bike being frequently visited at the service station. Riding feels comfortable but the engine heats up real quick.
    3. Details about looks, performance etc.
Looks great for an adv bike but the aerodynamics kills your pickup
    4. Servicing and maintenance
Most important, whenever you buy a vehicle ensure to enquire about the service and maintenance.
They will never allow you to see what they are doing to your bike and will cover it up with a statement saying shop floor safety which is totally fake.
They will charge you way too much for the parts this is where the premium extended warranty kicks in that area after 2 years this warranty should cover-up and should act like a regular warranty but you will get only for disc pads and cables etc which is all small items there is no proper communication about it.
Service and maintenance is a big 0
    5. Pros and cons
There are no pros only cons.

  • Genuinely not made for new generation basement kids

    Ritesh

Did 35000 in 3 years on my bs4 including the lockdown year. I never stop until it needs a refill or I need one. This baby doll will make you swim on a bad Indian road. Do not buy this bike unless you are a tough guy. It requires absolutely no modifications. People who want comfort on bikes, soft seats, and heating issues, should just stay inside the house on their bed.
Did 3 long rides (5000+kms) including Ladakh. I saw 3°c temp on Pangong and turned the key with hesitation and it didn't let me down. It runs smoothly depending on how you care for the horse. Mileage I managed 32+ including heavy luggage and pillion every time. Going beyond 100 mark isn't safe on our roads.
Had major issues with a knocking noise on the handle 't', the reason I sold it, 3 times replaced still couldn't kill the noise. Service centers are poor. Re has mistakenly made this bike so perfect. I hate every other re.

  • The himalayan is easily the most anticipated motorcycle from royal enfield given its positioning as an adventure touring motorcycle.

    Get Road

The seat is nicely scooped for the rider and is very comfortable – I was almost surprised at how comfortable I was in the saddle even after 3-4 hours of continuous riding. The himalayan is accessible to shorter riders thanks to a low seat height of 800mm, keeping in mind the average height of Indian riders. We didn’t have panniers on our test bikes, but the mounts for them are a well-executed job, and so are the mounts for the jerry cans on both sides of the fuel tank. The led taillight does its job well while looking nice and sits under a large metal grab rail that also doubles up as a mount for a tail bag. A 21-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear give the side profile of the bike a likable appearance, in conjunction with the tall handlebar, though I would have liked it to be mounted about half an inch higher for better maneuverability, especially when standing up. The upswept exhaust looks nice and works well in not letting water get in, as I discovered while crossing a rivulet. Functional, well-executed design on the whole. Perhaps the section most bikers would be interested in knowing about, even more than the bike’s abilities. The good news is, the all-new, air-cooled, 411cc single-cylinder engine feels very refined, even close to its 6,500rpm, and has a torquey feel to it. With a relatively healthy 32nm on offer, that isn’t surprising. It is the first re-motor to employ oil cooling. But what I and a lot of other journos on the ride felt was that the engine could have been tuned for some more performance. 24.8ps of power is slightly underwhelming for a motorcycle like the himalayan. A candid chat with siddhartha lal, md and ceo of eicher motors, who also rode with us, justified the output though – the primary target audience for the bike is someone upgrading from say, a 150cc bike. The idea was to keep the power output such that even relatively inexperienced riders can harness all of it, apart from ensuring fuel efficiency figures are good enough for someone to want to buy the himalayan as his daily ride as well.
So, it's a great choice for bikers. Go for it!!!!

Royal enfield himalayan is worth buying but there can be some changes in it like including abs and stuff. Comfortable is at the top level and one of the best bikes for a long tour. For more assurance, you just take a test ride first and then plan of buying it but I will definitely approach you to go for it worth every penny. The himalayan is capable to serve your daily routes but it is much more fun to ride in hilly areas or on a long trip. While riding in peak hours dealing with the heavy traffic you might feel the heaviness.

    1. It's amazing...It has great ride comfort, ergonomics and is an a well balanced bike, worth the price range, very good ride quality, comfortable even for the pillion rider, mono-shock suspension makes it ready for off-road too.. Affordable adventure tourer. I love riding experience.
Don’t think much, go for it.
