The utter worst bike i ever seen in my life. Finally i covered 20k within a year.. But two times am replaced magnetic coil and engine cylinder head. Con-set and few other parts. But the complaints are still existing.. So don't put it your head under re.. After all re service was also very poor. Positive side only i shown in himalayan is riding comfort and off-road performance.

  • My experience With Himalayan

    Jithesh Kannan

Hi all . I brought the bike about a month ago( after 45 days of waiting period). I have done 900 km and first service was done on time.
About Me: Not really a biker/tourer. Just brought it for pure fascination. Not owned/used a 150 cc bike before. Was using a 2 stroke bike and a Honda Dio before.
Already done a 250 km trip on this bike. now using for daily commute for which it is not that good. I enjoyed most at 4000-4500 rpm .
    Pros:
    1) Looks - This bike looks great and eye catchy without any need of alteration .
    2) Good seating Position- The bike gives a relaxed seating position without a pain in back. Also memory form seats helps in long rides.
    3) Headlight- The bike don't have a projector headlamp but it gives good reach and spread.
4)Not bad pillion seat-Pillion seat is not that bad compared to other bikes Youth prefer.
    5) Back rail guards- this is very useful in long rides. I used it to strap my shoulder bag to it without any chords/straps. I like to have a pillion back rest but then carrier is useless as max weight it can carry is 3.5 kg
    6) Side stand sensor- Bike wont start in side stand on. also stops the bike if side stand is on(only in gear position).
    7) Mirror- Bike have a good mirror that gives decent vision even when cruising. I was planning to replace it with that of duke when i brought bike, but I put that in check as for now.
    8) Instrument Cluster-This thing is amazing . Provide all data including time, side stand indicator, gear position , dual trip meter with average speed
    9) Tyre and Break- the CEAT tyres gives good grip and dual bybre disc break gives extra confidence on road( not tested in off road)
    10) The trip F blinker and the small space below seat to carry personal document is very useful
Before buying Himalayan, Test ride a classic 350 and comparing to classic
-the bike feels light on cruising
-don't have those creepy vibration on handlebar. one can feel it in mirror
    - while breaking near speed breakers, my shoe tip touched the road and this never happen in Himalayan
-while riding a classic, the rider gets the spotlight. but a himalayan rider never gets it as himalayan will steel it.
    - the Himalayan don't have a thumping note, but i like the sound. No need to replace exhaust with an aftermarket one as they are completely useless
    Cons:
    1) The clutch is on a stiffer side. I my ride, i had to finger exercise after going through a junction
    2) slipper clutch will be useful as i quickly downshift, the bike tents to skid
    3) The exhaust pipe already changed the colour. I knew about it before i brought it . everything is not always perfect
    4) I am skeptical about the nuts and bolts used in the machine
    Verdict:
I was dreaming of buying thunderbird. then came himalayan from RE. My friends and family didn't totally agree with on himalayan as first generation had many complaints.
I hope RE have solved those in BS4 version. In the price range you cant get a bike in this segment. You will be little adventurous to buy himalayan now but what is the fun without taking some risks. If you feel it is not worth taking a risk wait some time for KTM to lounge their adventure tourer, will be little more costly but will be worth it I guess .

    Raul Purna

With all my hard-earned money & being royal enfield user for a decade I finally took a re himalayan bs6 in march'2022, but some key points which I would like to share with my experience 1stly quality of paint re has used its pathetic my closely 5months old bike has started colour fading issues & the same has been escalated with their service team & the reply I got was shocking (yeh toh aise hi common hai is gadi main) this is very common in himalayan, so spending 2.79l will ensure you that your bike will look 5years old in a span of 5 months, secondly, the bike is not made for regular city roads its often gets a puncture on your regular office rides & so on, the heating problem is so pathetic 38 degree is the most common temperature that your thighs would be roasting too, & lastly we Indians love to know about is the average its 15-18kms per litre. This is my honest review abt this poor machine & frankly, will not suggest taking this because none of the problems will be entertained to you at any of the re service centers, they are just good as listeners zero solution will be provided, so take a second-hand machine at least you will be saving more than a lakh rupee instead of buying a new one & feeling looted.

  • There are no pros only cons !!!! fake premium extended warranty

    Akash Raj

    1. Buying experience:
While buying this bike everything looked ok and the staff was so generating trying to sell this bike, but you will come to know about the issues only after you own it. They also tried to sell a "premium extended warranty" which is a scam.. Will tell in detail during the review.
    2. Riding experience
The top speed is 120 kmph , keeps stalling, lot of teething issues, you will be spending around 2.5 lakhs and end up with the bike being frequently visited at the service station. Riding feels comfortable but the engine heats up real quick.
    3. Details about looks, performance etc.
Looks great for an adv bike but the aerodynamics kills your pickup
    4. Servicing and maintenance
Most important, whenever you buy a vehicle ensure to enquire about the service and maintenance.
They will never allow you to see what they are doing to your bike and will cover it up with a statement saying shop floor safety which is totally fake.
They will charge you way too much for the parts this is where the premium extended warranty kicks in that area after 2 years this warranty should cover-up and should act like a regular warranty but you will get only for disc pads and cables etc which is all small items there is no proper communication about it.
Service and maintenance is a big 0
    5. Pros and cons
There are no pros only cons.

  • Himalayan = torque 35k kms ownership review with pros and cons

    Sriram

    Hey friends,
People who are looking out for an adventure tourer should consider checking out the Himalayan once. The bike is built in a way where there exists a word "zaaappppp". I own the Himalayan bs-4, which is absolutely so much lovely to ride. The bike has dual channel abs which are now switchable in the current versions of Himalayan. We cannot expect electronics in this bike, but a guy who likes acceleration and crunchy off-road experiences should definitely. For this budget royal enfield is providing with a navigator system which is a good start for royal enfields, but as an owner, i had to purchase accessories from off market and from royal enfield oem products too. Overall, the service cost is comparatively cheap than other adventure tourer bikes. While honda has given their entry-level adventure tourer the cb-200x, it doesn't have the power that the himalayan has, but has upside-down forks, which has it's own pros and cons. Himalayan is one good torqu-y machine that pulls us soo good. I have driven for about 35000 kms now, all I could say is, that I still love my ride and I still feel it's day one when I start my bike from my parking. Talking about mileage, the important part for an adventure tourer, on highways, maintaining an average speed of 85-95kmph, the bike gives you about 40 kmpl, but in cities the mileage drops down to 30-33kmpl, the least I have got is 30 kmpl after riding in he busiest roads of chennai.
    Pro:
    1) ride quality.
    2) mileage on highways.
    3) cheaper maintenance cost.
    4) easy availability of after-market accessories and parts.
    Cons :
    1) mileage and heat from the engine in cities.
    2) tube tires are not very helpful in certain conditions.
    3) gear shifts when riding inside cities are cranky.
    4) halogen lamps.
I hope this helps you guys in some way with your selection of a ride that's gonna give you breathtaking memories in life.
    Happy riding, guys !!

  • A blunt honest review after 500 km's riding

    Anil Jagtap

Buying: Buying experience was smooth and hassle free. Dealer helped a lot with follow-ups with company and delivered my bike much sooner than promised date. Here I will like to give 5/5 stars. Riding: I have took this bike for 400 km's ride before my first servicing. Taken care not to exceed 60 km/h and 4000 rpms to get a smooth run in of the engine. Suspension is not as smooth as most of the owners claim. It is at harder side and that is okay because it is an adventure bike. But you can feel bumps and potholes more than my previous bike which brand and model I will not reveal to keep away from bias. Otherwise riding is smooth, maneuvering is smooth. I do not feel weight of the bike while using it even in the city traffic except I am stand still. Seat is okay for long rides but I would like to change it to a bit harder one.
Looks and performance: Looks are okay. Not exceptional but average. The bike is bit taller than most of other regular bikes that's the prominent difference. Performance is okay. For me it was not extra ordinary like what I have seen in some YouTube channels. Engine gets stressed and bike made weird noise in 3rd gear at 50-60 km/h speed in my said trip. Later I came to know that chain of my bike was not properly tight as showroom mechanic told me. Why it was not configured? I had no answers. In steep ghat sections you feel shortage of power. And yes, the clutch is hard. I mean real hard that my palm began to ache after 100 km's of ride. Gear shifting is hard. I can hear a thud when I put bike in first gear from neutral. Higher gears are somewhat smoother. Much talked tripper navigation is useless when phone loses network. I had expected it shall store my route and guide me even when there is no network. So no point having separate console meter for same thing which a simple phone mount can do. A USB charging port would have been more useful than tripper navigation. Secondly, I yet to find a soul who can tell me the compass meter was life saver for them. The last point is, bike do not want to start after each refuel. I have to try a few times and that scares me as it do not have a kick start option.
Servicing and maintenance: After first service the bike was still making weird noises so i had to take it to service center again. After my complaint they came to know about the issue. Then what did they checked about my complaints while giving it for first servicing? the noise was because of harden rear brake pads which they replaced in warranty. How? I mean how they got hardened? I had no answers again. Crash guard in my bike is yet to arrive and not fitted yet. Due to which when I dropped my bike (a soft drop at stationary position in my parking), the clutch leaver got bent. Now I have replace it at my cost. I have ordered knuckle guards while taking delivery of bike on 19th march and yet I am waiting for them on 4th April.
Pros and cons in my opinion: Pros : a budget entry level adventure bike* rigid design. One can feel the sturdiness of bike* only internationally reputed Indian adventure bike, I feel somehow this bike will not ditch me on road* smooth buying experience.
Cons : service centers need to improve no usb port to charge devices.

  • Noticeable outside. Regrettable inside

    Raghav

Pros:1) himalayan is a type of bike which is seen as a complete alien in roads which makes people to notice you thus giving a sense of pride.

2)the seats are extremely comfortable and the upright position makes it more comfortable to cruise long distance with ease

3)suspension makes the vehicle to traverse in rugged plains.

4)it actually saved me twice. The vehicle is sturdy enough to save you from small accidents.

    Cons:

    1) vehicle is very heavy and difficult to handle it when it is switched off.

2)low engine power offering 24.5bhp which is way lesser compared to other 400cc bikes in market.

3)gear shift is tight and it's a very good workout for your leg muscles(just kidding)

4)commuting in traffic is horrible as you cannot ride through gaps due to its unusual heavy weight. It's neither a commuter nor a cruiser

5)vehicle gets heated up very quickly (please don't wear shorts and drive, you will feel the heat ).It stops in the midway without any notice which can be dangerous.

6)very difficult to take u turns

I've been using the himalayan since one year , the power , comfort and satisfaction when riding is very good but when coming to the service and company's attention to the customer service is very poor . There's always unavailability of spare parts , accessories in the dealerships . They always have a answer that the bike has no demand in that particular region that's the reason why they don't have the parts or spares . The service is very poor and they don't know how to handle a customer . Poor accountability .Poor service . I still have the regret that i've chose himalayan to dominar.

Getting Himalayan was my 3 years dream come true plan. When I ride first time, I knew that this bike build for me.
I will one of the best and cozy riding experience I had on Himalayan. There is always thrill but be in the rules while driving.
One of the best looking bike. Bike aesthetics are so much old school style but having rich modern touch by royal enfield long legacy.
Get one thing that Himalayan need's to be maintained. So keep your pockets full. Service cost more sometimes but I will say worth a penny every time.
Best aesthetic, riding experience with unique posture design, right performance machine in the right package. Himalayan beats in the cost with all the competitive bikes available in the market
At last, always happy to be part of royal enfield rider community which always enhanced riding experience by exploring unknown places.

  • There are no pros only cons !!!! fake premium extended warranty

  • Royal Enfield Himalayan review

    Aniket Sase

    Sudheesh

  • Read this before purchase of re himalayan

    Sudheesh

  • Read this before purchase of re himalayan
