The 390 Adventure represents KTM’s go-anywhere philosophy in a package that is more accessible than its hardcore 790 and 890 ADV offerings. The motorcycle is priced at Rs. 3.68 lakh, making it around Rs. 4,000 more expensive than the top-spec SW variant of the older model. The new 390 ADV is different from its predecessor in almost every area and is a more hardcore adventure tourer.
This new Austrian ADV rides on a 21-17-inch tubeless spoke wheel combination, unlike the 19-17-inch alloy wheel setup on the outgoing model. These wheels are suspended by WP Apex USD forks at the front with 200mm of travel and adjustability for compression and rebound in 30 clicks. At the rear, there’s a monoshock with 205mm of travel, offering 20-click rebound and 10-click preload adjustment. Stopping power comes from a single 320mm disc with a radially mounted caliper up front and a 240mm rotor with a floating caliper at the rear.
Although the seat height is now lower at 830mm, the ground clearance has gone up from 220mm to 227mm. The kerb weight has gone up marginally from 177kg to 183kg, while the fuel tank capacity remains unchanged at 14.5 litres. Coming to the heart of the matter, it is powered by the majorly revised 398.6cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 45.3bhp and 39Nm, an increase of 2.4bhp and 2Nm. This unit is paired with a six-speed gearbox, along with a slipper clutch and a quick shifter.
KTM has also transformed the design of the new 390 Adventure, giving it a more purposeful look. The new bodywork makes it visually resemble its bigger 790 and 890 siblings more than ever before. Unsurprisingly, KTM has crammed the bike with more electronic aids, including cruise control, switchable cornering traction control, cornering ABS, off-road ABS, and three riding modes: Street, Rain, and Off-road. All the data is displayed on a new five-inch TFT dash with Bluetooth connectivity.

It's a very aggressive bike at higher revs. Very off-road capable. I love to ride the bike Extremely agile and nimble to manoeuvre around in traffic. Amazing suspension, brakes and all the tech. Looks beautiful. Yes it has some issues that can be fixed.1. Seating comfort could have been better2. No low-end torque 3. Excessive vibrations below 5000 rpmApart from these issues, the bike is a beast on the road with a stunning road presence.

Really good bike for pros

It is a really capable bike in the higher rev rangeHaving spent some solid seat time—around 300 km—on the KTM 390 Adventure, I can confidently say it’s one of the most versatile bikes in its segment. Right from the saddle, the tall stance and wide handlebars give you an immediate sense of command. The riding ergonomics are spot-on for both city traffic and highway runs, with enough comfort to keep fatigue at bay. The 373cc single-cylinder engine is eager and refined, delivering a healthy punch throughout the rev range. It pulls cleanly from lower speeds, which is a blessing in city rides, but what impressed me most was its ability to cruise around 100–110 km/h effortlessly on the highway. Beyond that, there’s still power on tap, but windblast becomes a factor if you’re not behind an aftermarket touring screen. On broken patches, the long-travel suspension really makes a difference. Potholes and rough terrain are absorbed with confidence, yet the bike doesn’t feel soft or wobbly on tarmac. It’s a balanced setup, offering stability while cornering and just enough compliance off-road. The traction control and cornering ABS are genuinely useful features that instill confidence, especially for newer riders exploring gravel or wet surfaces. Fuel economy hovered around 26–30 km/l in mixed riding, which I found reasonable for the performance. The TFT console is clear, vibrant, and packs more info than you’ll realistically need mid-ride. However, the seat could have been a touch softer for long days—after about 150 km, I started shifting around for relief. Overall, the 390 Adventure feels like a superb middle ground for those who want a bike that can commute, tour, and tackle weekend trails without breaking the bank. It’s not a hardcore off-roader, but it definitely opens doors for adventure beyond the city limits.

KTM 390 Adventure: My Heartbeat on Two Wheels
25 weeks ago

Every ride on my KTM 390 Adventure feels like a love emotion, fearless. Its 399cc engine, pumping 45.3bhp and 39Nm, sings with energy, pulling hard whether I’m dodging city traffic or chasing sunsets on winding highways. At 182kg, it’s agile, and the 230mm WP suspension eats up bumps, making my weekend trail rides pure joy, though it’s no dirt bike champ. The 5-inch TFT screen, with Bluetooth and crisp graphics, feels like my trusty sidekick, while cornering ABS and modes (Street, Rain, Off-road) keep me confident in any weather. The quickshifter’s a thrill, even if it grumbles at low revs. With 28kmpl and a 14.5L tank, I roam far without worry. Some plastics feel flimsy, but this bike’s soul—vibrant, bold, unstoppable—steals my heart every mile. It’s my escape, my fearless passion.
