About F850 GS

BMW F850 GS is a commuter bike available in 3 variants in india. Its lowest version starts from a price of ₹12,97,482 (ex-showroom) and the top version from a price of ₹14,42,410 (ex-showroom). BMW F850 GS generates 92.5 bhp of power and 92 nm of torque from its 853cc engine. Double cylinder engine of F850 GS has a 6 speed manual gearbox. With both rear and front disk brakes, the top variant of BMW F850 GS also has an anti-locking braking system. This 229 kg bike is available in 3 colours.

BMW's R1200 GS is the bike adventurer tourers want - it has a reputation for being unbreakable yet manageable. However, with large displacement comes a large price tag, and that's what the F750 and F850 hope to correct. They aim to bring BMW's adventure-touring segment to a wider audience thanks to their lower price point. The F850 is the more off-road focused of the two, with 93bhp from its 853cc parallel twin engine. You get spoke rims, knuckle guards, fork protectors and a windscreen taller than the F750's. The tyres, as expected are on/off road spec. Among the features are LED headlamps and a 6.5-inch TFT colour display for the instruments. As befits a BMW, there is a full electronics package available including ABS, traction control, cruise control, quickshifter, and five riding modes, including an 'Enduro Pro' mode that tunes the electronics for the best response on dirt.

The F850 has three variants for the Indian market: Standard, Pro Low Suspension, and Pro. The ‘Dynamic’ and ‘Enduro Pro’ riding modes are standard on the two ‘Pro’ variants.

BikeWale's Take

The BMW F850 GS is a near-perfect adventure tourer which makes its premium price tag look justified. While the worst of terrains can be conquered on it with ease, it can also be a great companion while munching miles. That is courtesy the bike’s potent motor, premium set of hardware and a long list of electronic aids.
