  • 0 competition an added disadvantage

    Gautham Sasikuamr

1 buying experience. You have to hand it over to royal enfield for their best in class customer service when you visit the showroom for the first time. Had a hassle free customer service from test ride to delivery. In fact the customer service was so good that i actually booked the bike on my first visit.2 riding experience Try to ride the bike before you visit the showroom for a test drive. I drove the earlier version of the himalayan which belonged to a friend of mine before i visited the showroom for a test drive. This is because the test drive vehicles are always in mint condition and thus the actual performance cannot be determined. Now coming to the riding experience, the bike due to its high stance seems a bit intimidating for novice riders. The seating is very much comfortable for a single rider and 'ok' for pillion. You will notice vibrations on the instrument console once you cross the 100kmph mark. This does not happen with a himalayan which has done 2000km+. The service manual has a detailed outline on the gear ratios on different speeds during the first 500 and 2000km. If that specific guidelines are followed then you wouldn't be having much problems. The handle bar feels a little tight and sometimes during short commutes you may feel a little bit uncomfortable. For highways and long commutes this bike is great. The wind shield gives you adequate wind protection on long rides and the back monoshock adds to comfort when faced with potholes which are inevitable on Indian highways. The breaking on this bike is sweet with the abs. On offroad, this bike shows its value for money. It gives great riding comfort while going off road as compared to other bikes on the same price range. Overall the riding experience is very good.3 looks and performance. The bike does not look very much aggressive but it sure does look intimidating. Due to the great design, it becomes easier to mount luggage or saddle bags since there are holes for bungee loops and a dedicated carrier.Coming to the performance, the bike is good but not perfect. The 411cc engine heats up while stuck in traffic and it becomes a real burn issue if you're not wearing jeans or full pants. The instrument cluster is also good but the gear indicator is a bit slow as compared to the ones on the ktms and gixxers. 4 service and maintenance. Inquire in detail about the service intervals and go through your service manual. Trust me its worth it. The service staff will pay extra attention to your bike if they know that you know what all will be done on each service. Clean your bike every two weeks. Don't use a water jet or don't give it for a bike wash. Wash it yourself. You will get to know 'what is situated where' if you wash it yourself.Clean and lube your chain every 500kms. Use a chain lube and chain clean for chain maintenance. Local mechanics may recommend used engine oil but don't go for that. 5 pros and cons. Pros :A well built and light weight bike.Fuel efficiency is good.Easy to customize.Best suited for highways and offroads. If loved it will love you back Cons :The absence of slipper clutch can be a problem during city commute.Engine heats up a lot during city commute.Abs cannot be turned off. Fuel gauge has a mind of its own and is thus unreliable. Not very comfortable for short people and underweight people. To sum up, royal enfield has an added advantage as it has no competition on the adventure tourer market at this price range. This also becomes a disadvantage as it gives royal enfield a possible arrogance to not provide some extra features as there is no competition and the buyers have no other option in this price range.

  • Himalayan...You will fall in love with her

    Nidhi Malhotra

Buying himalayan was a decision which we took in the year 2018 jan. It was well thought and researched by my husband. Himalayan as my man describes is his real love as he enjoys every experience riding on her. Undoubtedly though i get jealous at times but she has always made us proud. We live in the terrains of nainital and thus her off road commitment is marvelous..We have ridden her for almost 22000 kms and each time she has proved her commitment. We did experience a few downs with her in regards to some electric problem which we faced but shortly that was resolved. She gives a mileage of around 24kms on daily commuting and 28kms on highways.Rain, snow ,wetlands or no roads..Himalayan does not ditter..Another positive about her is her looks..She catches the attention of every passerby and makes us proud..I as a co-rider never say no to a ride when it comes to himalayan...Only advice if you are a biker himalayan gives you the best experience.

I've bought the new Himalayan bs6 model about 3 months ago. The new bs6 model comes with a switchable abs which is great for off-road purpose. There are two more new variant colors for bs6 himalayan. The riding position of this beauty is adorable. There won't be any sort of pain after a long ride. Best off-roading bike ever.

Himalayan is a good touring byk...But the only problem is the maker re ... The parts af reh is made of the worst quality ones .. Even the hero splendour is having much more quality products than reh.. The riding experience is really awsome. . But we can't relay on this byk... Its may die any were.. And the sc is not able to recognize the problems and the availability of the parts is very less... So if we are long rider we should wait for one or two weaks for the parts to reach sc. By the look ,performance and riding comfort.. Excellent.. Better than any byk within that price range.. More over the electrical portion and the rear break really sucks.

  • Himalayan the bike to ride

    Yashveer Singh

I have purchased this bike in Covid time, and my purchasing experience was pretty good but i have to wait to around 2 months as some parts were imported from china and the imports were banned at that time. But the wait made it more special. And then the day arrived after almost 2 months, the dealer called me and told me that my bike is ready, the time I saw my bike I could not look anywhere else but my my brand new bike. I has always my dream to get Himalayan and that day my dream came true. Post lockdown was the first time I took my bike for an actual ride before that I have several small ride but Himalayan was not made for 200 or 300 km's ride, so I made a plan and this time it was 4000 km ride and it was a hell lot of fun. I rode my Himalayan in heat in rain and even in snow for a while. It performed like an royal Enfield. It looks pretty simple but it is eye catchy at the same point. Its off road capability is similar to highways (both are fun and easy). I got it serviced 2 times one major and on minor and it was very smooth and they charged me very minimal price.

I want to replace tubeless tyres on my royal enfield himalayan granite black bike in place of tube tyres. Is it possible please let us know. It is not possible to ride in sikkim area. I suffered many punctures last month .This bike is not suitable for mountain areas. If possible put tubeless tyres in place of tube tyres.

  • Worth buying a himalayan

    Akhil Shetty

Royal enfield himalayan is worth buying but there can be some changes in it like including abs and stuff. Comfortable is at the top level one of the best bike for long tour. For more assurance you just take a test ride first then plan of buying it but i will definitely approach you to go for it worth every penny.

  • Affordable Adventure Motorcycle

    Saikat Das

Since 16th December 2021, till now I have covered 30900+ km with Royal Enfield Himalayan bs6 pine green.
I am keeping this bike as much healthier as I can. I made a 1000 km ride in a day about 6 times. I rode this bike for more than 300 km nonstop (one petrol bunk to the next) running consistently at 80-90-100 range at noon-afternoon at high temperatures, with panniers top box pillion, it didn’t break down.
What I find PROS & CONS after riding more than 30000 km, I can clearly tell that:
    a) Initial or low-end to midrange torque is very good to escape from stickiest situations in offroads or no roads.
    b) The bike is heavy at very low speeds, other than that it is fun to ride a motorcycle with very neutral handling.
    c) Rider’s Triangle is very comfortable though stock seats are very soft and often get uncomfortable after 250-300 km, so either you need to take a bum break or stand up on footpegs.
    d) Front brakes are dull in both feedback & bite, so replacing them with Yamaha R15 V3’s front disk pads (costs around 450/-, stock 250/-) will improve the braking performance a lot better.
    e) Rear brakes are good, not better or better.
    f) Rear suspension is a little stiff if you compare it with the BMW 310GS or Hero Xpulse 200, but better than the KTM 390 Adventure.
    g) Front suspension is very good, if you stand up in footpegs, then best, because your weight comes at your hands so more loads on the front suspension to work.
    h) Quality of components is improving, not like earlier, failure rates are very low. I only got stuck at once because my clutch cable snapped but luckily I always carry a spare one, because I come from a Yamaha R15 v2.0 family, which clutch cables are prone to snapping.
    i) The engine is stock. The clutch is stock. Battery is stock. The Chain Sprocket is still in stock.
    j) I replaced only one Cone Set, one Front Tyre, and one Rear Tyre.
    k) I serviced the Rear Suspension and bushes at home and after that, it is fine, with no sounds from the rear suspension.
    l) I am using Motul 7100 10W50 2Litre at an interval of 5000 km.
    k) Stock Fuel Pump Relay is a culprit. Change it to RE and make 5pin relay (white/light gray color), it will not give low-speed stalling problems.
    l) Try to use Indian Oil CoCo pumps or Shell pumps, the rest all give bad fueling to the bike and the bike suffers a lot to ride.
    m) Avoid water jet wash as much as possible and try to wash it with a mug, because the water will residue inside the Speedometer making it foggy.
    n) Use Liqui Moly Fuel System Cleaner in each 3000 km, it will take care of the bike’s fuel injector & fuel pump filter.
    o) The Stock Handle is of mild steel so after a drop it will bend for sure, so you can install an AOM handlebar.
    p) Grease the clutch cable frequently to make it soft and less prone to snap.
    q) The gearbox is clunky but if you set the clutch free play just right, put gear oil/wd40 at the gear shifter, and use fully synthetic engine oil, it will not be clunky.
    r) Stock Ceat Gripp xl tires are good, but changing to MRF Mogrip Meteor will give more mileage as well as tire life.
    s) Avoid putting a load on the battery with auxiliary lights etc. (without putting any relay or wiring harness), it will drop the bike’s performance drastically due to less current flow to the fuel pump or injector.
    t) Replace fork oil at each interval of 25000 km for more efficient front suspension travel.
I think these things will help you to understand your bike better and connect to your bike.
    Till then! Chao…

    Till then! Chao…

A baby doesn't start running after the second day of birth! it needs to be taken to doctor several times for several medications and injections!

same is the case with himalayan, is it perfect? no it's not! but i am certain that it will be with time.

Is it fun to ride? definitely yes!

is it an eye catcher? a big yes!

only thing is it needs love and care and attention.

  • Re himalayan dream v/s reality

    Arun.Vs

    Till then! Chao…
