    • My Duke 250 Journey or AKA Mini 390.

      Prince Roy

      My Duke 250 Journey
I bought my Duke 250 in late September this year through OLX from an owner who had purchased it in February. It had just around 3,000 kilometers on the odometer, so it was barely used. The previous owner’s reason for selling it remains a mystery (maybe the fuel efficiency?), but after a thorough check to confirm it hadn’t been in any accidents, I was able to get it for a solid price of 2 lakhs.
      First Impressions and Performance
I upgraded from the Yamaha R15 V3, which held its ground well, so initially, I didn’t feel a huge surge in power at low RPMs (around 2k-4k) where both Duke siblings tend to be softer. But once I had the chance to rev past 5k RPM, the Duke 250 revealed its real character. It almost transforms, and suddenly, the speedometer’s climbing faster than I’d expect! This reminds me of the R15’s VVA effect around 7k RPM, where it starts to feel like a bigger-engine bike.
      Design and Road Presence
As Shami from MotorInc mentioned, KTM’s design is divisive; some love it, and others don’t. I personally like the White color, but if I’d had the option, I’d have gone for the Blue. The Duke’s design definitely grabs attention on the streets, but in a more subtle way these days. The Blue and Black versions are stylish, shedding that chaprhi image to exude a refined sporty vibe.
      Ergonomics, Ride Comfort, and Handling
As another Duke rider on Reddit said, KTM may be known for speed, but handling is where it truly excels. Coming from the R15, I had high expectations, and the Duke hasn’t just met them—it’s exceeded them! The bike feels nimble and maneuverable, making it perfect for weaving through traffic. Despite its muscular build, the Duke feels surprisingly light, like an extension of yourself on the road.
Comfort-wise, the seat could definitely be better. After an hour of riding, it starts to feel like a workout for my backside. A reupholstered aftermarket seat might be a good option for those longer rides. The ride is stiff, which enhances control, but that also means it isn’t the cushiest experience.
As for the tires, they’re adequate but didn’t quite inspire the same confidence as the R15’s, especially around tight corners or during sudden braking.
      Engine, Braking, and Mileage
The engine feels almost Japanese in its smooth, linear power delivery, despite being European. Coming from Yamaha, I felt right at home with its refinement. It’s impressive how vibration-free the Duke remains, even with a larger 250cc engine compared to the R15.
One thing to note: the Duke 250 doesn’t like to be kept at low RPMs, almost like an impatient partner when you’re preoccupied. It’s happiest over 5k RPM, where it really comes alive. I recently took it on a 100-kilometer ride along open roads, and that’s when it felt like the king of the highway!
For mileage, it hovers around 28-30 km/l. It’s better than previous Duke generations, but you’ll still find yourself at the pump more often. However, I’ve accepted that fueling up often is part of the experience if I want to enjoy this sporty machine to its fullest!
      Final Thoughts
After just a month of ownership, one big takeaway is the cost of ownership beyond the showroom price. Between fuel, maintenance, and some cosmetic upgrades (about 10k worth), the expenses add up. I’m glad I went for it, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind for anyone eyeing a Duke 250 or similar.
Above all, the Duke 250 deserves respect on the road. With the right gear and a responsible mindset, this machine rewards you with an incredible riding experience. Let’s ride it as the refined piece of engineering it is and give it the respect it commands!
If you’ve read this far, thank you for sharing in my journey with the Duke 250.

The buying experience was good, and the riding experience varies from person to person. Maintenance is a bit high.
The Duke 250 is an impressive entry-level motorcycle that offers a great combination of performance, style, and affordability. With its sleek design and sharp lines, it's sure to turn heads on the road. The 248cc single-cylinder engine delivers a healthy dose of power, making it a fun ride for both beginners and experienced riders. The handling is nimble and responsive, making it perfect for city commuting and spirited rides through twisty roads. The instrumentation is modern and easy to read, providing essential information at a glance. The overall build quality is solid, which is expected from KTM. However, some riders might find the seat a bit firm for long rides. In summary, the Duke 250 is an excellent choice for those looking to step into the world of sporty motorcycles without breaking the bank.

    • Duke 250 Gen 3 – The Perfect Blend of Power, Precision, and Style

      M Chakravarthy

Owning the KTM Duke 250 Gen 3 has been nothing short of thrilling. From the moment I swung a leg over it, I could tell this machine was built for riders who crave performance with control. The rev-happy 250cc liquid-cooled engine packs a punch while maintaining impressive refinement, especially with the latest Gen 3 updates that enhance ride quality and road stability.
Its aggressive LED headlamp, sharp tank design, and bold graphics give it a dominating street presence — it turns heads at every signal. The bike feels light yet planted, slicing through city traffic effortlessly and offering immense confidence around corners. The slipper clutch and smooth 6-speed gearbox make every ride seamless, whether in traffic or on open stretches.
Comfort-wise, the seat padding is firmer than cruisers but perfect for sporty ergonomics. The suspension setup is balanced — great for spirited rides, though a bit firm on bad roads. The dual-channel ABS adds confidence while braking, especially during quick stops.
Servicing has been top-notch — KTM’s service network has improved, and the technicians at the local center in Nawada were knowledgeable and prompt. Parts availability and maintenance costs are reasonable for the segment.
      Pros:
      - Striking design and premium build quality
      - Excellent engine refinement and mid-range punch
      - Sharp handling and responsive brakes
      - Feature-rich TFT console and LED setup
      - Great value for a 250cc street naked
      Cons:
      -Slight heating in bumper-to-bumper traffic
-Rear seat comfort could be better for pillions
      Maintenance Tips:
      - Clean and lubricate the chain every 600–800 km
      -Check coolant levels regularly
-Use high-quality synthetic engine oil as recommended
-Keep tire pressure optimal (especially before long rides)
-Wash and wax the body to maintain that signature orange glow
      Verdict:
The KTM Duke 250 Gen 3 is a perfect mix of performance, precision, and street appeal. It’s not just a bike — it’s a statement for those who love to ride with confidence and flair. Whether you’re carving corners or cruising through city streets, this Duke never fails to deliver an adrenaline rush.
“A true streetfighter that blends power with personality.”

The price is a bit high but ok. The riding experience is very nice bike has much power than any other bike in this segment and looks very good. The maintenance is a big high not that much I have two bikes but I always prefer to use this bike because of its looks and rode presence con of having the bike is handling.

The buying experience was good, the showroom staffs assistant me good, After riding the bike for nearly 15000km I faced the discomfort in seating and pain in backs for a long travel, It will not good to use in long travel but is extremely good for streets, It is not heavy so can be manageable for beginners, With it's stiff suspension, not suitable for all kind of roads(Indian roads).

KTM quickly made a mark in the racing world, gaining recognition for its prowess in off-road competitions. The brand's dedication to racing not only fueled its competitive spirit but also drove advancements in motorcycle technology. It is, in fact, much easier than what most people believe. However, the key to becoming a pro is to practise and never give up easily.
