KTM Bikes

KTM bike price starts from Rs. 1,79,084. KTM offers 10 new models in India with most popular bikes being 200 Duke, 390 Duke and 250 Duke. The upcoming bikes of KTM include 125 Duke [2024], 890 Duke and 890 Adventure. Most expensive KTM bike is 390 Adventure, which is priced at Rs. 3,39,381.

In 1953, businessman Ernst Kronreif became a sizable shareholder Kraftfahrzeug Trunkenpolz Mattighofen which was then renamed and registered as Kronreif and Trunkenpolz Mattighofen. KTM started serial production of R100 in 1954. With just 20 employees, motorcycles were built at the rate of three per day.

The company’s first title was secured shortly thereafter with the 1954 Austrian 125 national championship. KTM first made an appearance at the International Six Days Trials (Enduro) in 1956 where Egon Dornauer secured a gold medal. Racing continued to be a testing ground for production technology, but next in line was its first scooter, the Mirabell. It started providing a factory in 1964. As the company continued to expand, the workforce increased to 400 in 1971, and 40  years after it was founded, KTM was offering 42 different models

The year was 2012 when Bajaj Auto increased its stake in KTM from 14.5 per cent to 47 per cent, and it was also the year when the KTM Duke 200 was launched in the Indian market. Soon after, the development started to show its colours, and in 2008, KTM and Bajaj announced that they were going to develop two new 125cc, 200cc and 390cc mass-focussed motorcycles.

KTM also owns Husqvarna; their  forthcoming Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen models are likely to be made in India at the Bajaj-KTM plant in Chakan, Pune. The news comes after Amit Nandi, the senior vice-president of Bajaj, hinted that a new range of 'made-in-India' Husqvarnas would be built at some point in 2017.

Bajaj plays an important role in this positive change for KTM. The mass-seller Duke/RC series is manufactured at Bajaj's facility in Chakan, and then exported to the world. Some of the markets which KTM-Bajaj exports the KTM Duke/RC to are: Europe, Australia, Nepal, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Colombia, Mexico and Argentina.

  • KTM 390 Duke
Journey from August 2018 to 89000km
    Bikonomy Xpress
    1. I purchased in August 2018 and it was difficult to find Orange but White was readily available. 2. I buy it for highway riding only to free from the shackles of rail and airlines. 3. Gen 2/Bharat IV was the first Indian launch which was launched world wide with same features and looks. Unlike before, KTM decided not to create disparity between Indian users and users across world especially Europe. 4. It needs genuine parts which are only available at service centre. Regular service irrespective of KMs run make the bike readily available for highway use. It needs maintenance of chain lube/clean and oil spray on electrical during winter. Pros: - Excellent power to weight ration. - All the Bajaj Dominar parts are inter changeable i.e. from nut to piston head - Same as international model launched. - Highest number of service centres compared to Kawasaki, Triumph, BMW, Ducati, Honda Premium segment, Suzuki Premium Segment, Indian, Harley. - Tyre options available from Ceat to Michelin. - Can go non stop 6000km or 800KM/Day. - It can go without starting radiator for 800km if highway air keep on falling on engine. - An option for users who need more than utility bike but cannot afford 600cc cateogry. Cons - Not at all for city use which is widely misinformed among users. - City air is insufficient and thus, start radiator at once decreasing mileage and gulping petrol. - Only available to those retailers which sell Dominar parts ie. 400cc category. - Not for beginners. - Service cost is more than utility bikes but less than 600cc category. - Chain needs cleaning and lubing at every 400-600km, depending upon the road cleanliness. - Out of bound for local mechanic. - One part failure can make you strand anywhere.

  • KTM 250 Duke
Dare to be different and unique.
    Sarthak Pravin Patange
We bought my Duke 250 2024 from the Kharadi Showroom. The sales guy named Pratik over there was the sole reason we bought the bike over Apache. He gave the smoothest and well-maintained delivery experience throughout. Absolutely stunning delivery experience and a well-spoken humble guy. The riding experience is good. The bike feels willing to push all the way up to the red line. Once at 8,000 RPM, the bike gets a surge of performance and feels incredibly fast for a 250cc bike. Performance delivery is very linear in the beginning gears, and violent once at the red line. There are observable vibrations in lower gears and speeds. Might fatigue a few people. The riding poster though straight, the bent knees start to cramp your leg up on longer commutes. Pillion seat though more comfortable than before, still leaves the passenger fatigued on longer rides. Not recommended for road trips with a pillion. The quick shifter on my unit seems a bit clunky but snaps into gear lunging the bike forward, hence don’t use it much. But when it works, it works superbly. Braking never felt better. It has stopping power for days. Can go from 80 to 0 quickly at a very stable rate. 4 days in, already did like 220 KM on it. It isn’t even run-in yet, but I already touched 120+ speeds for fun. A lot of harsh bumper-to-bumper traffic riding too. The bike in its run-in period for the first 30 KM gave only 20-21 KM/Lit. Fast forward as the engine is now opening up, it is giving 28. By 300 or so, I expect the mileage to go up to 30-32 in the city easily. Highways in my area are always busy, hence didn’t get proper highway mileage in yet. The bike is a sports bike, hence, comfort and ease of ride are out of the question, but it still performs way better than a lot of its competitors in the daily commuting category. The bike is a stand-out. Always looks menacing and sharp. Got a man asking the bike's price just seconds after I took it outside after delivery. Yes, people do call you chapri when they get to know it's KTM, but if they don’t know the bike is from KTM, they look at it with aww. 10 minutes into the ride, my friend who said I made a mistake by buying this bike, changed his opinion and now rides it more than I do. Performance as previously is very good for a 250cc BS6 compliant single cylinder motor. Didn’t yet have a service, but from what I am told it will cost me no labor charges, but they will charge me for oil, oil filter and coolant change separately. Basically, they will change these items for free for the first service, but will charge me for the products they will change. This I found ridiculous, as the bike already costs ₹2,85,000 where I live. I expected them to make this first service fully free for that. The bike is a very good offering from KTM for beginners in 250cc category, though the price is very steep. It will last you well enough for short commutes and slightly longer runs. Burst of performance is addictive. Overall, the ride comfort isn’t great, but for a sports bike, very doable. I will recommend this bike only to people who want sheer performance at the cost of a little bit of mileage and comfort. Bring a Bajaj partnership product, the service and maintenance shouldn’t be a hassle either. Great bike for a selective group of enthusiasts only.

Best racing bike under budget with powerful engine
    2 weeks ago
    Appurva Thapa
One of the best 200cc bikes I have ever ridden, after asking one of my friends for the ride it was an excellent experience. Powerful engine plus excellent looks which attracts people. But if ktm provides a quick shifter in it, it would be great. the only con I faced in this bike seating portion but is better than the previous version.
