Speed 400 is an amazing bike

My Take on the Triumph Speed 400 MY25: A Personal ReviewHey there! If you’re eyeing the Triumph Speed 400 MY25 and want a straightforward, shareable review based on what I’ve dug into (as someone who’s analyzed tons of rider feedback and specs), here’s my honest breakdown. I’ve pulled from real user experiences and official details to make this feel like a “self-review” you’d post online—think of it as if I just wrapped up a few months of ownership. I’ll cover the highs, lows, and everything in between. This bike launched as an update to the original Speed 400, with tweaks like adjustable levers and a comfier seat, and it’s priced around ₹2.40 lakh ex-showroom in India. Why I “Chose” It and First ImpressionsI went for the Speed 400 MY25 because it nails that blend of retro style and modern punch—perfect for someone upgrading from a smaller bike. The design screams classic Triumph with its sculpted tank, black powder-coated engine, and gold anodized forks. In Racing Red or the yellow variant, it turns heads on the road; road presence is top-notch without being over-the-top flashy. At 179 kg wet weight, it’s not too heavy, and the 803mm seat height makes it accessible for most riders, even shorter ones like me. The upright ergonomics feel natural—broad handlebars, mid-set foot peg, and a slim waistline mean no back pain after long rides, which was a game-changer compared to other bikes I’ve tried.First ride? Thrilling. The 398cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine (part of Triumph’s TR-Series) delivers 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. It’s smooth and responsive, with linear power that builds without jerks—great for city zips or highway overtakes. I love how it pulls strongly from mid-range; you can overtake in 6th gear without downshifting.Performance and Handling: The Fun FactorThis bike shines in performance. The 6-speed gearbox is slick, with a torque-assist clutch that’s light and easy on the wrist. Acceleration is peppy—expect to hit highway speeds effortlessly, and high-speed stability is solid thanks to the lightweight frame and 17-inch cast aluminum wheels. Handling is agile and confidence-inspiring; the 43mm upside-down forks and gas mono shock suspension soak up bumps well, though it’s tuned more for sporty rides than super-soft comfort. Braking is spot-on with a 300mm front disc, four-piston radial caliper, and dual-channel ABS—no drama even in wet conditions. On the flip side, there’s some vibration in lower revs (especially initial gears), and it can heat up in heavy traffic, warming the tank and legs. Not a deal-breaker for highway-focused riding, but if you’re stuck in city jams, it might annoy. Mileage-wise, I’ve seen around 25 kmpl in urban areas and 28 kmpl on highways—decent for a 400cc, though not class-leading. The 13L tank gives a good range for weekend getaways.Comfort, Features, and Daily UsabilityComfort is a big win. The updated MY25 seat is squishier and slightly taller, making long hauls painless, and adjustable levers let you tweak for the perfect reach. It’s great for riders of all sizes, with an engaging posture that mixes comfort and control. Tech is modern but not overwhelming: ride-by-wire throttle, switchable traction control, LED lighting, and a semi-digital instrument cluster with essentials like speed, gear position, and trip info. No fancy connectivity in the base model, but it’s got an immobilizer for security.Daily stuff? It’s practical for commuting or tours, with a 10,000-mile service interval keeping costs low (first service around ₹2,000-₹3,000 based on reports). Cons: No center stand, which is a hassle for maintenance, and the initial gears feel short—the bike smooths out from 4th onward. Pillion space is okay but not luxurious, and the heat can be bothersome in sandals.Would I Recommend It?If you want a versatile 400cc roadster that’s exciting yet practical. It’s a step up from entry-level bikes like Royal Enfield, with better refinement and build quality. After “5000 km” of simulated ownership, the pros outweigh the minor gripes—it’s refined, reliable, and just plain fun. If you’re more into relaxed cruising, check the Speed T4 variant instead. Overall, it’s worth every penny for enthusiasts. Ride safe!If this isn’t what you meant or if you’d like any modifications (e.g., shortening it or adding/removing sections), let me know!

There’s just something about your first bike that sticks with you, you know? My Speed 400 is that for me, and honestly, I love it. Every time I start it up, it puts a stupid grin on my face. It’s got just the right amount of power for me — not too crazy, but enough to feel fun every single time I twist the throttle. I love how light it feels too. It’s easy to handle, corners feel smooth, and it doesn’t feel like it’s trying to throw me off when I hit the gas a bit harder. The best part for me is just the freedom it gives. After a long day, I hop on, hit the road, and suddenly nothing else really matters. The sound, the wind, the way it pulls a little — it’s the best feeling. It’s funny how fast you get attached to a bike. This one’s my first and I know I’ll never forget it.The only thing that bugs me is it stalls sometimes. I don’t even know why — maybe I’m doing something wrong, or maybe it just needs a little tuning, who knows? It doesn’t happen all the time, but when it does, it catches me off guard, especially at a signal. But honestly, that’s the only thing I’d complain about. Other than that, it’s been nothing but good times and good rides.I know I’ll probably move on to other bikes down the line, but this one will always be special. First rides, first late-night spins, the first time I felt what freedom on two wheels feels like — it’s all because of my Speed 400. Stalls or not, I love this bike.

The first time I laid eyes on Triumph’s new Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X late last year, I knew they were taking aim at Royal Enfield with both. I’ve stated before that RE ripped a page from Triumph’s playbook some years ago by manufacturing and marketing small displacement motorbikes, targeting the younger gens with affordable, approachable, fashionable motorcycles. Royal Enfields are viewed as cool, hip, easy on the bank account and super fun to ride. Which they are, absolutely. Triumph has long appealed to the young hipsters as well, but RE has been chipping away at Triumph’s market share here in North America with their offerings in recent years.

It is a smoother riding experience than any other bike. Handling and power are perfectly blended. Even if in 6th gear this bike can overtake without downshift. Easily reach 140kmph on highways. Cruise at 100kmph without any vibrations. With the Balanced weight, you can ride through the traffic. I'm 5'5 in height and this bike is perfect for my height. Suspension is good. Pillion comfort is also best for long rides. I get a 30kmph average mileage for each style of ride. Lube & tightening the chain every 500km at the Triumph service center is the reason for it.

Good mileage in 400cc Negativity:- paint quality, headlight visibility is low, Rear brakes and suspension could be betterMy experience:- Triumph needs to improve its service, and it should not give the feeling of Bajaj. The purchase of the bike was smooth. I am reviewing the bike after riding it for a year. It still has the punchy acceleration that was there during the purchase. I have also done two services for which the experience was good. Overall it is a very good bike for the riders shifting to the 400 cc category.

Triumph Speed 400 Standard

Dream Bike

The all rounder

It is a smoother riding experience than any other bike. Handling and power are perfectly blended. Even if in 6th gear this bike can overtake without downshift. Easily reach 140kmph on highways. Cruise at 100kmph without any vibrations. With the Balanced weight, you can ride through the traffic. I'm 5'5 in height and this bike is perfect for my height. Suspension is good. Pillion comfort is also best for long rides. I get a 30kmph average mileage for each style of ride. Lube & tightening the chain every 500km at the Triumph service center is the reason for it.

I am enjoying this bike.Positivity:- Performance, handling, and riding quality are goodThe front brake is fantastic. Good mileage in 400cc Negativity:- paint quality, headlight visibility is low, Rear brakes and suspension could be betterMy experience:- Triumph needs to improve its service, and it should not give the feeling of Bajaj. The person should feel that he has bought a Triumph bike and not a Bajaj bike, so please.

I rode this bike 650 km in a single day from Indore to Khajuraho, such a great experience with this comfort and handle control. I really love this bike, first I am going to buy GT 650 but after using this I will recommend to all buy TRIUMPH 400 for its comfort and durability. I really like this Machine.

Great Bike for Beginner's to shift to 400 cc bike

The purchase of the bike was smooth. I am reviewing the bike after riding it for a year. It still has the punchy acceleration that was there during the purchase. I have also done two services for which the experience was good. Overall it is a very good bike for the riders shifting to the 400 cc category.

We will not face any issues. I have ridden 10k km. I didn't get any trouble, good styling, good mileage, and better performance, more power, nice handling, and had good looks, and I should talk about exhaust, what an exhaust, you will get good sound without installing aftermarket exhaust, you will get better sound with the original exhaust.
