About Bonneville Speedmaster

Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster is a cruiser bike available at a starting price of Rs. 11,75,000 in India. It is available in only 1 variant and 3 colours. The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster is powered by 1200cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 76.9 bhp and a torque of 106 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster comes up with anti-locking braking system. This Bonneville Speedmaster bike weighs 263 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 12 liters.

The Speedmaster is a full-size cruiser belonging to Triumph’s iconic Bonneville family. It is known for its British custom cruiser styling that adorns a gallops of chrome accentuating its low-profile and laid-back styling. It is essentially aimed at riders who want to cover long distances with comfort and in style.

The 2021 edition gets minor styling changes and new colours that distinguish it from its predecessor. Thus, while the Speedmaster retains its custom cruiser style, the clock on the 2021 model gets a new bezel with subtle Bonneville branding and a new dial face. The 2021 model also gets full-LED lighting as standard. The motorcycle can be further customised with the optional 79 accessories. Moreover, the new paint schemes include Jet Black, Fusion White and Sapphire Black with hand-painted twin coach line, and Red Hopper Candy.

Mechanical specifications retain a 1200cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree firing order that makes 76.9bhp at 6,100rpm and 106Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm. The motor comes with a 16,000 kilometre/12 month service interval. This is accompanied by essential rider aids including two riding modes, cruise control and switchable traction control.

As for the cycle parts, it gets 47mm Showa cartridge front forks and a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock. The braking setup includes twin, 310mm discs with Brembo callipers at the front and a 255mm single rotor with Nissin calliper at the back.

Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster Expert Opinion

  • Good Things

    • Has good handling abilities
    • The parallel-twin engine is smooth
    • Plenty of chrome bits
  • Could be Better

    • Has low ground clearance
    • Could get slightly better fitment

BikeWale's Take

The Bonneville Speedmaster is a cruiser suitable for long rides. The torquey and smooth 1200cc, parallel-twin engine makes the riding experience more comfortable. And while the Speedmaster has really good handling abilities, the low ground clearance it offers could be a deal-breaker for some.
