Yamaha MT-03 to be launched in India soon: What to expect?

Along with the MT-07 and MT-09, Yamaha recently displayed the upcoming MT-03 to select dealers. The Japanese streetfighter is likely to debut soon in our market and there are quite a few things you should know if the MT-03 has caught your fancy and is on your radar as the next purchase.

Yamaha MT-03 Styling

Being a thoroughbred streetfighter motorcycle, the MT-03 gets an aggressive front profile. Its headlight unit comprises a projector unit flanked by LED DRLs above. It’s followed by a muscular fuel tank with cuts and creases, thereby contributing to the visual mass of the bike. The bikes showcased in India are identical to the ones sold overseas.

Along with LED illumination, the MT-03 also features a fully digital LCD and dual-channel ABS. The instrument console packs all the essential readouts like the speedometer, odometer, trip meter, tachometer, fuel level reading, gear position indicator, and more.

Yamaha MT-03 Engine

Like its faired sibling, the MT-03 draws power from a 321cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor. It dishes out 42bhp and 29.6Nm and is linked to a six-speed gearbox. We expect the same setup to be offered for the bike that’ll be offered in India.

Yamaha MT-03 Hardware

The MT-03 rides on USD front forks and monoshock with the braking hardware comprising of a 298mm front and 200mm single rear disc with ABS. The brakes are mounted on 17-inch alloys wrapped in 110/70 front and 140/70 rear tyres. Yamaha has equipped the MT-03 with a 14-litre fuel tank.

Yamaha MT-03 Expected Price and Launch Timeline

Yamaha India is likely to have the official launch of the MT-03 in India around the end of this year. Meanwhile, the bookings could commence slightly earlier, during the festive season. The asking price for the MT-03 might be around Rs. 3.7 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it would rival the KTM 390 Duke and the BMW G 310 R
