New spy shots of the upcoming single-cylinder Ducati Hypermotard have surfaced again. This time the bike isn’t camouflaged and reveals a lot of design cues and body panels of the test mule.
It’s evident that the larger Hypermotard has been the inspiration for the upcoming bike. We've also seen its single-pod headlight, tall front fender, slim fuel tank and single-piece seat, wide handlebar, and an overall skinny build on the Hypermotard 950. The upcoming Italian supermoto bike could rival the current KTM 690 SMC R, which is fairly popular in the European and American markets.
We expect the Ducati bike’s engine capacity to be around 659cc and the output around 75bhp. On closer inspection, we can also see that the motor’s vertical setup with a direct link to the swingarm is similar to the other Ducati engines. Its hardware setup includes USD front forks and a monoshock. Then, there’s a large single front disc and a single rear disc mounted on 17-inch wheels wrapped in sticky road-biased rubber.
If and once launched, this will be the second single-cylinder bike from the Italian brand since 1993. However, the previous one was a race-only bike, whereas this one will be suited for road usage as well.
