Smaller and more affordable ADV bikes are gaining a lot of traction in the global markets. The Honda Sahara 300 is one such go-anywhere adventure motorcycle that was recently launched in Brazil. Closer to home, we have the Hero Xpulse 200 4V, which is cut from a similar cloth.

Successor to the Honda XRE 300, the Sahara 300 is an ‘all-new’ offering that gets new bodywork and an updated features list. It comes with an updated instrument cluster, type-C USB charger, dual-channel ABS, and preload-adjustable suspension. Meanwhile, the Sahara 300’s styling is largely similar to that of the Honda CB500X.
The Honda Sahara 300 uses a 293cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that gets a single overhead camshaft, instead of the DOHC setup on the XRE 300. The engine is E100-compatible and generates more power when it runs on ethanol. The motor produces 25.2bhp on ethanol and 24.8bhp on petrol, while the torque output is pegged at 27Nm.

For an adventure bike, the Sahara 300 is relatively lightweight at 149kg (kerb), but has a tall saddle that stands at 859mm. This is courtesy of its long-travel suspension that offers 245mm travel at the front and 225mm at the rear. The Sahara 300 rides on a 21/18-inch wheel combination.
The Honda Sahara 300 is available in Brazil in three variants – Standard, Rally, and Adventure. The Standard model costs BRL 27,090, while the Sahara 300 Rally is priced at BRL 27,690. The top-spec Adventure variant is pegged at BRL 28,650.
