Yamaha NMax 125: Details Explained

Yamaha has updated its NMax 125 for 2021 in Japan. The maxi-scooter is now introduced with a few additional features and mechanical updates. The NMax 125 is priced at Yen 3,68,500, which converts to Rs 2.47 lakh. Meanwhile, the company is looking forward to selling 3,500 units in the domestic market annually. While the India launch seems quite unlikely, here we explain all the details about the motorcycle.

Engine

The NMax 125 is powered by a 124cc single-cylinder water-cooled four-valve SOHC FI unit that churns out 12bhp at 8,000rpm and 11Nm at 6,000rpm. All this power and torque is put down via a V-belt type continuously variable transmission.

Design

This NMax 125 is a lean and sleek-looking maxi-scooter with a windscreen at the front and a glossy treatment with NMax badge on the sides. It gets a single-piece seat, a rear grab handle, plastic exhaust cover and pillion footpegs placed in a streamlined fashion. The maxi-scooter also gets a 7.1-litre fuel tank capacity and a 23-litre under-seat storage space.

Features

The 2021 update on Yamaha NMax 125 mainly consists of features like the Y-Connect app, the Euro5 engine, variable valve actuation technology, traction control system, smart motor-generator for quiet engine start, a newly designed frame and idle engine start-stop. It is also equipped with all LED lights, a full LCD dash, 12V dc point and a smart key system.

Colours

Yamaha has introduced the updated 2021 NMax 125 in four colour options: White Metallic B (Silver), Pastel Dark Gray, Matte Dark Gray Metallic and Matte Dark Purplish Blue Metallic. The maxi-scooter has avoided the use of graphics; instead, it gets a Yamaha logo and NMax badge on its sides.

Front Disc Brake

Hardware

The ride here is taken care of by telescopic forks at the front and a unit swingarm suspension at the rear. For effective stopping power, the motorcycle employs a disc on both ends assisted by a hydraulic braking system. The 13-inch wheels are wrapped in 110/70 section upfront and 130/70 section rear tyres.
