Yamaha MT-07 ABS: Details Explained

Yamaha has updated the MT-07 for the Japanese market. The naked roadster has been updated both in terms of cosmetics as well as mechanicals. The bike is slated to arrive in Japan on 28 July 2021 and is priced at Yen 8,14,000, which converts to Rs 5.45 lakh. The company is planning to retail 700 units of motorcycle annually in its domestic market. While the chances of the MT-07 arriving in the Indian market are pretty slim, let's take a look at the details of the same.

Engine From Right

Engine

Powering the MT-07 ABS is a 688cc inline twin-cylinder water-cooled engine that produces 72.4bhp at 8,750rpm and 67Nm at 6,500rpm. All this power and torque is put down via a six-speed gearbox. This engine is based on the crossplane concept that creates linear torque at a low-speed range which increases the ease of use and control for the rider.

Design

The MT-07 ABS is a sporty and aggressive looking motorcycle. The naked roadster comes with an alien-ish design for its headlamp, body-coloured rims, tank extensions on both sides with graphics, split seat setup with rear grab handle strap, a sleek tail section and a chunky exhaust. The bike is available in three colour options: Dark Grey, Blue and Matte Dark Grey. The Pastel Dark Grey colour gives the bike a unique look and the Deep Purplish Blue Metallic C colour that aforns the YZF-R1 that makes it look sporty. Meanwhile, the Matte Dark Gray Metallic 6 colour has a low contrast of dark tones that lends the bike a bold look.

Head Light

Features

The motorcycle is offered with features like a bi-function LED headlamp, LED position lamp, flasher lamp, negative LCD instrument cluster and ABS. The instrument cluster displays the clock, air temperature, gear position, trip, odometer, and tachometer.

Hardware

The ride here is taken care of by telescopic forks at the front and link-type swingarm suspension at the rear. Meanwhile, for braking, it employs a 298mm dual-disc at the front and a 245mm single disc at the rear assisted by ABS. The naked roadster rides on 17-inch wheels. Those wheels are wrapped with tyres having 120mm width at the front and 180mm width at the rear.
