Honda launches special-edition Monkey moped in Thailand

- Dubbed as the Lightning edition

- Exclusive to Thailand

- Features a new paint scheme and other cosmetic tweaks

Honda Thailand has launched a special edition of the Monkey moped. It’s called the Lightning edition and comes with a bright yellow paint scheme with a quilted and checkered seat cover. This model gets the Lightning stickers on the fuel tank with Monkey Lightning written beside it.

Meanwhile, the petite design remains unchanged, along with the round headlight, single-piece handlebar, and a raised front fender. For added contrast, the moped comes with chrome all over. It draws power from a 125cc, two-valve, air-cooled motor that makes 9.2bhp at 6,750rpm and a peak torque of 11Nm at 5,500rpm. This motor is linked to a five-speed gearbox.

Similar to the standard model, the 2023 Honda Monkey Lightning edition also rides on USD front forks and dual rear shocks. It gets a single front and rear disc at both ends and the setup is mounted on alloys wrapped in block pattern tyres.

The Honda Monkey Lightning edition is exclusive to Thailand and is unlikely to be launched in India even in its standard form. In Thailand, it is priced at TBH 108,900 (approximately Rs. 2.59 lakh, sans taxes).
