The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2019 has finally been passed by Rajya Sabha. This bill will amend the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988.
The bill that was tabled by the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari was earlier passed by Lok Sabha. The government believes that with this new bill, there will be a drastic reduction in road accidents and will improve the road safety. The stricter penalties are likely to bring down traffic violations.
