World’s first hybrid battery-powered e-motorcycle unveiled at 2020 Consumer Electronics Show

- Nava Racer is the world’s first hybrid ultracapacitor battery-powered all-electric concept

- Inspired by café racers of the 1960s

- Claimed top speed of 180kmph

At the on-going 2020 Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas, several start-up brands are displaying their new projects and concepts which could soon to production in the near future. Present at the event is France-based NAWA Technologies who has showcased the world’s first hybrid ultracapacitor battery-powered all-electric concept called the NAVA Racer.

The design of the all-electric motorcycle concept draws its inspiration from café racers of the 1960s. Besides, its modern-retro looks, the concept e-bike packs some interesting technology. According to the manufacturer, the NAWA Racer makes use of ultracapacitor technology, which according to the company, provides the NAVA with ten times more power and five times more energy than the existing systems in use. All this has been achieved while continuing the use of a lithium-ion battery.

For that kind of tech, the NAVA Racer packs some serious punch. The manufacturer claims that the e-bike will be capable of offering a mindboggling mileage of about 1800miles (2896km) which has been possible with the clever hub-mounted energy recovery system. This system alone is apparently capable of recovering 80 per cent of the energy used which usually gets wasted in the process of slowing down the bike. Besides that, the bike has been built using ultra-lightweight materials which have resulted in the e-bike tipping the scale at just 150kg.

The tech stuff doesn’t stop there. The e-bike concept is equipped with a futuristic hub-less rim-mounted motor. In terms of specs, the motor is claimed to put out 100hp (98.63bhp) which, according to NEVA should be enough of the bike to attain a top speed of 160kmph.

Will the bike enter production? If yes, by when can we see a production-spec model? And lastly, what would be its price? Well, for all those answers, we will have to wait as the NAVA Racer is still a concept with no announcement on any of the questions. Reports say there could be a high possibility of big manufacturers taking interest in the technology and probably buy it and use it for their future electric products.
