2022 Honda Super Cub: Details Explained

Honda has launched the 2022 iteration of the Super Cub in the European market. The company has updated the 2022 model of the geared moped both in terms of cosmetics as well as mechanicals. The geared moped was only available in Japan up to late 2018 where it was used for commercial purposes. The new Super Cub is priced at Euro 3,499, which converts to Rs 3.09 lakh. While the chances of the moped arriving in the Indian market are pretty slim, let's take a look at the details of the new Super Cub.

Engine

Powering the new Super Cub is a 124cc air-cooled Euro5 compliant engine that churns out 9.65bhp at 7,500rpm and 10.4Nm at 6,250rpm. All this power and torque is taken to its wheels via a four-speed gearbox that is operated using an automatic centrifugal clutch. At standstill, the rider can simply engage the first gear without the use of a clutch lever, and as the throttle is opened, the clutch operates automatically to connect the engine to the gearbox.

Design

The 2022 Super Cub features a simple design. It gets an 'S' shaped styling with red-coloured seats, a rear grab handle strap and an exhaust with a Matte Grey cover. It also carries a circular theme for a few equipment like the headlamp and mirrors. The moped is 1915mm in length, stands 1000mm tall and is 720mm wide. The seat height here is kept at 780mm, which makes it easier for shorter riders. The lowest distance to the ground is 125mm. Meanwhile, the kerb weight of the moped is 110kg.

Features

As it is an entry-level moped, it comes equipped with limited features like an LED headlamp, LCD instrument cluster, an LED taillight and ABS.

Hardware

The suspension duty is handled by 24mm telescopic forks at the front and a twin shock absorber at the rear. Meanwhile, for braking it employs a 220mm disc at the front and 110mm drum at the rear assisted by single-channel ABS. The moped rides on 17-inch wheels. These wheels are wrapped with tyres having 70mm width at the front and 80mm width at the rear.

Colours

In the European market, the Super Cub is available in two variants and three colour options. The Super Cub C125 2019 variant is offered with Pearl Niltava Blue and Pearl Nebula Red colour options. Meanwhile, the Super Cub 2022 variant is offered with only Matte Axis Grey Metallic paint scheme.
