2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S: Details Explained

KTM has launched its flagship adventure motorcycle, the 1290 Super Adventure S in the Malaysian market. The bike is priced at RM 1,32,900 in the Malaysian market, which converts to Rs 23.28 lakh. While the latest iteration of the 1290 Super Adventure S is available in select international markets, its launch in India is quite doubtful. To know more about the adventure bike, let's take a look at the details of the same.

Design

The 1290 Super Adventure S gets an intimidating design thanks to its tall stance and bulky look. The motorcycle gets an adjustable windscreen at the front, 1290 Super Adventure S graphics on its fairing, a split type seat, raised metal exhaust and a rear carrier. The 1290 Super Adventure S is only available in Orange and Black paint scheme.

The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S draws power from a 1301cc V-twin Euro5 compliant engine that sits in a trellis frame and produces 157.8bhp at 9,000rpm and 138Nm at 6,500rpm. All this power and torque is taken to its wheels via a six-speed transmission.

TFT / Instrument Cluster

Features

Being the flagship adventure bike in the lineup, it comes loaded with features like all-LED lights, tilt-angle adjustable seven-inch TFT instrument cluster, USB charging socket, five riding modes (Rain, Street, Sport, Off-Road and optional Rally), a quick-shifter and a radar system. It further comes equipped with safety features like cornering ABS, slipper clutch, stability control, traction control, automatic turn indicator reset, anti-theft and tyre pressure monitoring system.

The suspension duty is handled by 48mm inverted forks at the front and a mono-shock absorber at the rear that gets WP semi-active suspension technology. Meanwhile, the stopping power is derived from 320mm twin disc at the front and a 267mm single disc at the rear which is further assisted by Bosch dual-channel ABS. The adventure bike mounts a 19-inch wheel at the front and a 17-inch wheel at the rear. These wheels are wrapped in tyres having 120mm width at the front and 170mm width at the rear. The lowest seat height here is kept at 849mm, while this motorcycle weighs 220kg.
