It has been a while since Hyosung officially confirmed its plans of launching the GD250R and GD250N in India. Now though, a test mule of the GD250R has been photographed sporting a ‘TC’ number plate in Pune, hinting that the fully-faired quarter-litre bike’s launch might be just around the corner.
While the GD250N was showcased in India at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the GD250R is a fully-faired version of this streetfighter motorcycle. The GD250R is powered by a 249cc fuel-injected single-cylinder engine. This liquid-cooled engine packs 27.6bhp and 24Nm of torque, and comes mated to a six-speed transmission. The GD350R rides on 37mm inverted forks at the front and an offset monoshock in the rear.
While DSK Motowheels was planning to launch the GD250R and its naked sibling in India a long while back, the Pune-based automotive group’s deal with Benelli seems to have pushed the launch of these new models to this year. As both the GD250N and the GD250R are single-cylinder motorcycles, we can expect them to be significantly cheaper than the GT 250R. The GD250R is already sold in a few international markets under the moniker EXI-V R, where it competes with the Honda CBR250R/CBR300R and the KTM RC200.
