Fuel Tank Capacity | 5.3 litres | ||
Max Power | 9 bhp |
The Hero Destini 125 is 125cc scooter and it has received a complete overhaul. Hero MotoCorp’s designs have always been conservative but the new Desitni 125 is a welcome departure from that.
The front end, for instance, has a nice-rounded design with crease lines and integrated turn indicators. Above this apron, you’ve got a new LED headlight. The side panels are new as well, with more of a squarish design in keeping with the modern-retro theme of the scooter. Even the tail section is new and has a stepped design that looks pretty interesting. On the whole, the design is fresh and much more in keeping with the times.
The top variant of the scooter gets a black shade with tastefully executed copper inserts on the apron, mirrors, bottom of the side panels, and the tail section. The dark brown colour of the floorboard matches the colour of the wide and long seat. Moreover, the pillion grab-rail with an integrated backrest, which appears to be padded, is a useful touch as well.
In terms of features, the scooter receives LED lights and a digital instrument cluster, perhaps with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation, as is the norm these days.
The engine in the new Destini 125 is likely to be carried forward from its predecessor. The 125cc, single-cylinder engine makes 9bhp at 7,000rpm and 10.4Nm at 5,500rpm. It is paired with a CVT.
The frame is suspended by a telescopic fork and a monoshock. What’s also interesting is that the new Destini 125 has the same alloy wheels that we see on the Hero Xoom. Braking duties, meanwhile, will be taken care of by a disc brake at the front and a drum at the rear. The entry-level variant of the new Destini 125 will most likely have a drum brake at the front as well.
The Hero Destini 125 is expected to be priced between Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 85,000. It will go up against the Suzuki Access 125 and the TVS Jupiter 125.
Find out the list of available Hero Scooters.
Hero Destini 125 is available in the following colours in India.

Good for Indian Roads, not so much for Highways
2 weeks ago
Arindam
With about 20,000 km of riding experience on all sorts of terrains, and approx. 2,000 km with this Scooter on Bengaluru roads, I'm compelled to say, you'll have better choices.FIRST. COMFORT | PROThe 12inch-12inch wheel combo and suspension were my primary consideration for buying this scooter. While the upgrade from a 12in-10in combo holds up, I'd recommend testing out 14in wheel scooters before you buy this. Additionally, this has a flat seat and a back rest, which is a big pro for my wife, given that she needs to handle the kid in between. If pillion is your priority, this scooter should be at the top of your choice list. As for my rides in Bengaluru roads - both fine ones & pothole ones - I've not faced the back pains in the last 2 months as I used to on a 10in rare wheel scooter.SECOND. PERFORMANCE | MIXEDThis scooter isn't built to accelerate, just like almost every YouTuber would tell you. It gives you very low confidence in overtaking. You need patience to see it riding at high speed. But when it does, it rides at 95+ along with a pillion like butter on a hot surface. I rode it with a pillion weighing close to 100kg, myself 60-65kg, and I felt not the slightest hesitation anywhere.Although mind it - if you consistently ride at 45-55kmph, you WILL feel a rhythmic sinusoidal vibration, which either helps in digestion or makes your indigestion problem worse.THIRD. BREAKING | IBS-WHAT?The braking system doesn't brake both wheels at once. It PREVENTS breaking both wheels at once. I have to struggle so much to pull both breaks at once - I got wrist pain. Point to note here - rare break isn't the strongest here. But while braking, 70-90% of the braking force is taken by the front wheel anyway. So, breaking is fairly fine here - apart from the fact that when I try to pull the 2nd lever, I HAVE TO consciously loosen the other lever grip a little. This gets better with time, but even after 2months and 2,000 km in notorious Bengaluru traffic, this remains a problem for me - just a tad bit less than the initial days.FORTH. TECHNOLOGY | MIXEDPreviously, with Suzuki Ride Connect, I faced the issue of frequent disconnection while riding, which became so annoying that it became virtually useless. This, on the other hand, so far, stays connected once you connect. BUT, connecting is often a hit or miss. I'm frequently re-pairing, and unlike Ride Connect, pairing here is a pain in the arsenic. Uses Mappls, which isn't bad, but it has no support for whether I should take the flyover/highway or the underpass/service road. Even using a Bluetooth headphone to hear the navigation direction doesn't help much.FIFTH. THE CHASSIS & BODY | LESS PRO, MORE CONThe DRL is just muaah *chef's kiss*. I often end up riding right behind Autos, which have a 1-way mirror, and I keep falling in love with that front look. Aaaaand, that's about it. The rare - I believe they wanted to make it look like Swan's back, but coming from the Darjeeling-Kalimpong area, it appears to me like a hornbill's face (I don't like hornbills). The boot space is tiny, like - Putting 2 good quality raincoats folded is a struggle, and if they're not folded, forget even putting one. Only half helmets come inside. The helmet hooks are so pushed inside, as if Hero doesn't want us to use them at all (this was my favorite feature in Suzuki). The boot-light helps, but after one raincoat, everything is so close to the light, it's unable to perform well.The foot rest for the pillion is nice, but not so much for the rider. There's no hook under the seat in leg space, and the front hook is so low, I don't remember being able to hang anything there. Your everyday sabji market bag is at least 3-4 inches taller.SIXTH. MILEAGE | MEHDon't buy under the claimed mileage of 59kmpl. My BS6 Suzuki (non-E20), claimed 45, gave 50 on HP Petrol on Mountain terrains. This hunk of metal is claiming 59, and giving 51 or below on any Petrol I tried in Bengaluru so far (HP, Indian Oil, Shell), with Shell performing the worst at 45.**This is probably because the mountain roads are generally free, and in Bengaluru, I'm stuck in traffic more often than I'd like for sunbathing.FINALLY. SERVICING | TERRIBLEPretty sure they didn't change the Engine Oil I paid for. I'm just gonna buy the Engine Oil from them, and get it changed by an external mechanic because staying there while they change the engine oil is not feasible. The engine was smooth like butter until it was serviced. Only one servicing done so far, but the engine has been noisy ever since I took it out of the service centre. The bodyguard they installed is bent to one side. The mudguard-guard had loose nuts, and really not happy about it. I'll go for servicing just because I have to, not because I want to. However, this is a service centre-specific issue, and nearly all service centres will give you this trust issue. Shouldn't be a judgment factor for buying this scooter.Oh, and tell your service centre to NOT POLISH the brake discs - the wax polish dangerously degrades the braking power.OVERALL.If you're a middle-aged to older-aged person with a pillion on the back very frequently, and your ride style is relaxed and prioritizing comfort, then this scooter should be at the top of your list.If you're a younger to middle-aged blood, who rides single more often, and can't tolerate trailing behind vehicles, i.e., you require good acceleration faster, then find a different model.

Performance is good, but the mileage given is 50 km per 1 liter, so a little bit disappointed, but overall it is a good experience. Well-balanced, quality ride. Comfortable ride. Large storage and seating. Pick is fast. Ride quality is smooth. I am getting 47-50km/l mileage in city drive and +50km on highway drive. ( I generally keep speed between 45-50 km/hr. And try to keep the Speedometer headlight bright. Cons: Built quality. superior) Engine kill switch. Side stand indicator. Personally). Overall, for comfort, good ride quality, space, and decent mileage, go for Hero.
