With both front and rear disc brakes, TVS Ronin comes up with anti-locking braking system. This Ronin bike weighs 159 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 14 liters.

The new Ronin 225 is TVS Motor Company’s first ever neo-retro scrambler-style motorcycle. It is offered in three variants and they are differentiated by their colour schemes.

Buyers can opt between single-tone, dual-tone, and triple-tone versions. The single-tone variant is offered in Magma Red and Lightning Black colours. The dual-tone versions feature Delta Blue and Stargaze Black paint options. Lastly, the Triple tone variant is available in two colour schemes – Galactic Grey and Dawn Orange.

The feature list on TVS Ronin includes full-LED lighting, an asymmetrically-mounted LCD instrument cluster with TVS SmartXonnect Bluetooth module, two ABS modes – Rain and Road, slipper clutch, and the Glide Through Technology. Meanwhile, the styling cues comprise a round headlight, a curvy fuel tank, a single-piece seat, an engine cowl, alloy wheels, and a side-slung exhaust.

The mechanical specifications include a 225cc single-cylinder, the oil-cooled motor that makes 20.1bhp at 7,750rpm and 19.93Nm of peak torque at 3,750rpm. The engine is linked to a five-speed gearbox. The hardware comprises upside-down front forks, a seven-step preload-adjustable monoshock, a 300mm disc at the front, and a 240mm rotor at the back.

The Ronin 225 rivals the likes of the Honda CB350 RS in the Indian market.

TVS Ronin Review

  • Good Things

    • Styling is quite aspirational
    • Gets cool looking instrument cluster
    • Tractable engine
  • Could be Better

    • Certain variants misses out on dual-channel ABS
    • Only top model gets Bluetooth

BikeWale's Take

The Ronin is a new modern retro motorcycle from TVS. This motorcycle is a bit inspired from the Zeppelin cruiser concept but has been altered to make it more relevant to the current taste. The combination of retro styling, modern tech and 225c engine makes it quite enticing. However, this motorcycle won’t be liked by riders who love to ride fast and aggressive.

TVS Ronin Expert Opinion

TVS Ronin Custom Flat Tracker: First Ride Review

Introduction

TVS Ronin Front View

TVS loves to experiment with some of its expensive motorcycle and scooter brands. It did a few cool things with the Apache, and then decided to explore the world of superheroes with the Ntorq by launching some excellent paint schemes for it. Such strategies help the brand stay connected with its younger customer base and make it look aspirational.

The Hosur-based company has decided to continue this trend with the Ronin 225. At the MotoSoul 2023, the company unveiled a custom motorcycle designed and developed to participate in flat tracking – making it the second Indian company to do so, with Royal Enfield being the first.

TVS Ronin Front View

TVS is calling its flat-track sport – Drift R Cup and is planning to use this custom Ronin for multiple events planned by the company. At the MotoSoul 2023, the company handed us the Ronin flat tracker, and we decided to have some fun.

The Design and Modifications

TVS Ronin Right Side View

From a city bike to a flat tracker, this custom Ronin has undoubtedly managed to turn heads. TVS has achieved this feat by removing many cycle parts and installing some to make the motorcycle dirt ready. Firstly, many big components like the headlight, instrument cluster, stock seat setup, and exhaust have been removed. Even the side panels have been removed, and lighter ones have been installed.

TVS Ronin Bike Seat

Then, a few components were installed to make it track-ready. The front suspension is new and gets long travel; a broader handlebar and a flatter and a more extended single seat have been incorporated. This Ronin gets a race exhaust that is extremely loud and does the job of keeping spectators entertained. There’s also a broader and more extended bash plate, in case the bike needs to go through some stones. The tyres are from Timsun and are off-road focused. But the essential modification on the bike – the front disc brake – has been removed.

The Ride

TVS Ronin Front View

The goal was to ride around the 200 metres flat-track with style, hoping to avoid tasting the dirt. But things don’t always go as planned. The first few laps were consumed in getting used to the overall ergonomics of this custom Ronin. Then, that large cushionless seat made things a bit difficult, but eventually, I got used to that setting. Now, with the custom Ronin, I was in no mood to do a few laps. I wanted more, got more, and put up a good show, all thanks to that agile and light feeling that Ronin churned out.

TVS Ronin Engine From Left

Ronin’s 225cc motor always had the low-end grunt to keep things fun and active in the city limits. On the flat track, the same performance helped me get out of the corner with some amateur slides. While my left leg was busy acting as the last balance point of the tripod, my wrist made sure to gas out the moment I found the right line of the track.

TVS Ronin Front View

The custom Ronin was running shorter ratios in the first gear, due to which shifting to second gear was inevitable. But that’s where the fun lies because even on such a fast track, it allowed me to begin my slide by downshifting, just a few metres before my turn-in point. Here, the transition is super smooth – some credit also goes to the chassis and the Timsun tyres which allowed some comfortable slides.

TVS Ronin Right Side View

I had a few falls due to target fixation, and thankfully there are no front brakes on such bikes because that could have resulted in some nasty falls. The rear brake, however, was used quite a bit to slow down my aggressive straight runs. But just before entering the straights, the clutchless upshifts resulted in the rear shift tailing aggressively. That said, not even for a moment I felt I was losing control.

Verdict

TVS Ronin Front View

It is clear from this custom Ronin that TVS will continue to innovate with its motorcycles. The Ronin flat-tracker showed us the brand’s ability to enter a new sport and get more people into such races. The bike wasn’t just a temporary show. Much effort and time were put into making it dirt ready, which indeed took care of the dirt quite well. But more importantly, the concept of the Drift R Cup looks fun, and if expanded to various cities, TVS could see a profound change in brand perception. It will allow many Indian consumers to experience this new and addictive motorsport; maybe some would like to take it professionally. Well, I would have tried if the custom Ronin and a flat-track were easily accessible in my city.

Pros: great suspension, wonderful mileage, soothing seating comfort for rider and pillion, big tank capacity, offroad you should have no problem,
Cons: Bluetooth connection issues sometimes, gear changes and chain noise issues which will be rectified by the service centre only.
One should think about service centre easy part or service availability at an affordable price is just wow.

The worst bike I have seen ever. Engine damaged within 2 years. Service repairing is badly hampered due to the non-availability of parts. I have been waiting for 2 months. The service staff and owner are rude. They do not cooperate easily.
Tvs Please discontinue this bike and assemble it like apache with higher power.

The buying experience was good but TVS service is poor. But this machine is so damn good. No issues faced till now. Till now only main dealerships are allowed to service Ronin, TVS should permit other SCs to service Ronin. The engine is smooth and retractable and it is a very hardy motorcycle. The handling and comfort are superb.

Nice vehicle indeed. A lot of positive aspects and good road presence. Having a superior break with dual channel abs and upside-down suspension helps good balance.
Just that for new riders it might confuse the slip assistant clutch but it's ok.
The lighting is really good and good space for pillion seat indeed.

      Look & Performance is nice.
Riding experience below 90kmph is smooth, after 90 I feel little vibration.
      Service: Not good, just ok.
Pros: Good milage, smooth clutch, easy to ride for beginners, break is superb.
Cons: Gear shifting from 1 to 2 is a little tight for me,
Sometimes the side stand cutoff does not work properly, pillion and bag holders missing.

My Experience with the TVS Ronin
As an avid motorcyclist, I've had the pleasure of experiencing the TVS Ronin, and let me tell you, it's been nothing short of exhilarating. From the moment I laid eyes on its sleek, aggressive design, I knew I was in for something special.
One of the first things that struck me about the Ronin was its stunning aesthetic. The sharp lines, bold colors, and attention to detail make it a true head-turner wherever I go. Whether I'm cruising through city streets or parked at a local hangout, I always catch people admiring its beauty.
But the real magic happens when you twist the throttle. The Ronin's engine roars to life with a ferocity that sends shivers down your spine. The acceleration is smooth and powerful, propelling me forward with a sense of urgency that's downright addictive. It's like nothing I've ever experienced before.
What's truly impressive, though, is how Ronin handles it. Whether I'm weaving through traffic or carving up twisty mountain roads, this bike feels like an extension of my body. The suspension is responsive, the steering is precise, and the brakes are confidence-inspiring, giving me the control I need to tackle any situation with ease.
But it's not all about performance; the Ronin is surprisingly comfortable too. The seat is plush and supportive, the riding position is relaxed, and there's even enough storage space to stash my essentials for a day out on the road.
Overall, my experience with the TVS Ronin has been nothing short of phenomenal. It's a bike that not only looks and sounds incredible but also delivers on the promise of an unforgettable riding experience. Whether you're a seasoned rider or a newcomer to the world of motorcycles, I can't recommend the Ronin highly enough. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.TVS Ronin is a solid performer with a sporty design and commendable features. Its powerful engine delivers a thrilling ride, and the bike handles well on various terrains. The sleek styling adds a touch of modernity, making it visually appealing. The digital instrument cluster provides clear information, enhancing the overall riding experience. With reliable brakes and smooth gear shifts, the Ronin offers a satisfying blend of performance and comfort. While fuel efficiency could be better, the bike's overall value for money and enjoyable ride make it a worthwhile choice for riders seeking a dynamic two-wheeler.
