We have bought royal enfield classic 350 redditch red edition on december 2017. It was actually my fathers decision to take a royal enfield. It just took 2 weeks of waiting period after the booking of that vehicle. The bike is so good, have decent performance between 60-80kmph. But beyond 80 the vibes start irritate us. The bike is well suitable for long rides, if we move between 60-80 kmph speeds. The seating position is very enjoyable. Many were changing the handlebars to reduce the vibrations. But till now we didn't move for it. We have decided to took this motorcycle only because of its look. Classic models are the best looking royal enfields. Even though at the stock condition, the classic models are looking so stunning. It has a very stable body. As i told, i probably like to travel in 60s-80s kmph speed in the 5th gear. I loved it a lot. The confidence given by the rear tyre is better than the standard/ electra models.Service cost is just adjustable. As this is the old genre motorcycle with less features and all, i believe the service cost is at the higher side. Till now there is no need for much maintenance. The bike is going well and well till now. Pros:1. The bike is for all. Even young or old. Everyone who loves travelling will fall in love with this machine.2. The trust people have from late 1971.3. The engine has loads of pulling power, making it the best motorcycle when considering a ride into tough terrains like mountains and slopes.4. Luggage carrying ability of royal enfields are very much appreciable. 5. The headlights are extremely useful in bad weather conditions and night time driving, specially the high beam.6. Mileage is another plus point. For our classic 350, we get mileage between 42-45 kmpl. It is actually a good mileage for a heavy machine like this.7. On riding through roads, we will get the respect and pride from other riders and public. That is why it is "royal". 8. The split seats are looking stunning. Rider seat gives a lot comfort during long rides.9. The rear view is the best in class. On comparing with other royal members, classic 350 looks so much stunning in its rear view. The wider rear tyre plays a very important role in it. 10. The fuel tank comes with rubber pad for thigh support like heritage models, which not only offers thigh support, but also enhances the look of the bike.Cons:1. The main thing that i hate about royal enfields is the vibrations. Its much hard to stay on the highways at top speeds. The handlebars make me vibrate too. Even after a long lifetime, royal enfield fails to avoid these vibrations.2. Price is on the higher side. As it lacks many advanced features , even the fuel gauge is still absent. Lack of the fuel gauge is the main trouble faced on both too long and too short rides.3. Lack of highway performance. It doesn’t have good pickup. To compare with, even a 150cc bike pulls faster than this. But this may be ok for a cruiser but need to be better.4. This machine also got cold start issue once in a while when you try electrical during morning, so it is recommended to use kick start. I faced this problem many times.5. Heat from engine is another main issue. The engine stays hot for hours even after it stops. 6. Generally royal enfields are heavy. The case of classic 350 is too the same.7. Enfields needed to work more to bring advanced motorcycles. Duke, dominar, fz 25, rs 200, um renegade, and other opponents are miles away with features and facilities.

The buying experience was great, i bought it with emi option for a tenure of 36 months. The bike ride is great for both daily commute and off roading. The looks of bike is much better than its electra model but i wish it had the same tank as of re bullet standard which has 3d engraving and painted with hands.Maintenance cost is somewhat higher than other bikes but it deserves that attention and care. The only con is the gearbox, sometimes gears box confuses me, leaving that the whole bike is great and worthy of riding.

  • An outlandishly designed retro thumper bike in modern crowd

    Buying experience:

Still remember the date of booking this bike it was on oct12th 2014 and i got the bike form sri velavan motors chennai and got it delivered on 22nd nov 2014 after giving tremendous pressure to sales guy .

The bike has an excellent driving position and rock solid stability @80-90kmph(going beyond this speed is unnecessary stress to the engine and vibes in handle bar and foot pegs ). So it is good to maintain in the sweet spot of the engine where it glides on tarmac which has to be experienced personally.

    Looks:

Regarding looks, this is the best machine in the royal enfield stable period. It is ergonomically very well designed and i'm 6 foot tall so thought of taking electra for comfort but looks and fatty rear tyre( tyres in electra is 19inch one and skinny) of classic made me fall for it.

    Performance:

The torque of the motor is really addictive in city and hilly regions, but this bike is not meant to be revved hard as it is a single cylinder engine which loves o be driven in relaxed manner.

People who prefer outright performance please check out other brands as bikes in re are not designed for this. Classic gives a relaxed drive whether it is commuting or occasional trips(frequent trip riders please look for classic or bullet 500 for more torquey motor).

    Servicing and maintenance:

Actually i would like to share my experience of service in two different locations in tamilnadu.

    1. Sri velavan motors, thousand lights, chennai

First three services were done here and service was really good from my point of view.

    2.Royal enfield company store, peelamedu,coimbatore

I did my next three services(one free and remaining two paid)in this centre and this was one of the service centre in coimbatore. Even when you have only general service they will take two working days for service delivery, when someone questions on this they will simply say we give priority to free service.

The day i left hope on this showroom was when my front disk brakes was not having enough bite and it was very risky to drive in this state .So i went to showroom to change the brake shoes and the service center was not willing to take my bike saying it is running on full load. I can understand their situation from their side, but showrooms are happy to sell many bikes but they won't expand their service center for customer side. After this i got this fixed from a local mechanic which took only 15 minutes and i escalated all these issues to the re team and i got response but i didn't have the same trust with these guys again so i went to a local mechanic in gandhipuram, coimbatore where the service is really good.

    Pros

1.The look of the bike is a really outlandish as compared to modern bikes.

2.The seating position for rider is good for city rides a commanding position.

3.The single cylinder thumper is a delight to drive with a muted thump.

4.Front disk are really good as compared to old bullets with drum brakes, rear disk for classic would have added more confidence to rider.

5.Mileage is decent for a 350cc bike i, get around 37kmpl in city and 39mkpl in highways.

6.Headlight offers good throw which i felt far better than my previous bike passion pro.

    Cons:

1.Rear brakes cause fishtailing under sudden braking and rainy season.

2.Engine vibration is harsh after 90kmph which is felt in handle bar and foot pegs.

3.Some more power and refinement is needed to this engine like the one in himalayan.

4.Service centers are not as good as honda/hero.

    5. Tyres need a good upgrade as the grip level of stock tyres are average.

Thanks for reading my review patiently.

  • Royal enfield classic 350 may 2016 review

    Siddhesh Sawant

So i purchased my dream bike the royal enfield classic 350 on the 25th of may 2016 after waiting for a period of 3 months. The initial service provided by the people from royal enfield was very good. And now on 5th of november 2016 after riding my bike for a distance of over 4000kms, here is my review on the royal enfield classic 350.

    Style

me being a fan of old school bikes, i find the classic 350 one of the best looking bikes out there in the market. But this is a personal opinion. But the styling of the bike is such that it is sure a head turner and it kind of makes the personality of the person riding it enhance. The only drawback is that royal enfield should make the matte color available in the 350cc version.

Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox

the engine performance is good, but not to be compared with other bikes. The pickup is okay and could be better. On long journey the engine heats up and it can be felt on legs. The fuel economy issue for the classic 350 is quite debatable. I have known people from my riding group who are getting a mileage of 25-30 kmpl whereas for me, i easily get a mileage of about 40-41 kmpl in city and about 43 kmpl on highways. The gearbox of classic 350 is okay. Not too smooth and not to hard either. Its easy to put the bike in neutral gear unlike many bikes in the market, but sometimes on the open road the need for 6th gear is felt badly.

    Ride quality & handling

the ride quality of classic 350 is exceptional. I have taken my bike for long rides and the ride has been quite comfortable for me everytime. The engine is at its smoothest at 50-70 kmph range. The vibrations are manageable till the 110kmph mark and after that the bike seems to be underpowered. The handling of the bike weighing about 190kgs is awesome. Its easy to guide it through the city traffic and in the ghats. Cornering is quite difficult due to the weight and the stock tyres but the bike doesnt disappoint on highways and even on bad roads. Breaking power is just okay but the locking of disc seems a likely event while applying emergency breaks.

    Final words

overall the royal enfield classic 350 seems to be one of the good bikes out there in the market, second only to the harley davidson iron 883 (my personal opinion). Its good for daily commute as well as weekend rides with your friends.

  • Crap with killer look

    Ankush

1.The buying experience was not good. Showroom people asked me 3000 extra bucks just before delivering the bike as they told the road tax charges has been increased. I paid them and later when I got the Rc, it was having mentioned the old rate as it was before then I visited their showroom multiple time asking the bill for those 3 k which they promised to provide me on some next date but after multiple follow-up, I ignored asking for it.
    2. Riding experience was very nice for 1st 2 years. I was also getting my bike serviced before the service km indication. I have approved all the change of parts whenever they asked me to do. But suddenly after 2 years my bike started giving missing issue. I visited service center twice and explained the issue well but each time they handover me the bike saying their was some issue which we have fixed but they were lying. I am still facing the issue and it's still not resolved. I searched in quora and found many many other people are facing the same issue. I lost my trust in Royal Enfield and now with 2 lakhs of amount spent of scrap, there is nothing but to regret that I should have buy yamaha or suzuki bike which was on my list at that time.
    3. One pros is it's look. It looks stunning and classic cult. In performance it will rank #1 from the bottom.
    4. This bike is monster that will keep you haunting with its bad breaks and vibrations, bad shock absorber and of course a chilling bone massage when you ride above 75 km/h. All the best if you own this.

  • Weird noise from engine- classic 350 reborn. The stressful days

    Bibin

I have bought the classic 350 reborn by mid-April, 2022. At first, the bike seems to amaze me ..No vibrations comparing the old model's better pickup and the riding experience was also good until I noticed a weird sound from the engine. It occurs at some point in the rpms at every gear and disappears when the throttle smoothens. Re service team has no idea as usual. The sound is soo irritating that the 2.31 lakh+24k accessories worth bike seem to produce a crackling sound like tak tak within the first month of use. It's been 2.5 months and rode about 4300 km. I did the running period very carefully within the specified rpms and speed. Cared for it like a baby. Still, it disappointed me. After identifying the noise from the engine I even lose my sleep, I was very worried and still get worried when hearing the sound. I even did the second service at 4000 km without waiting for 5000 hoping they will resolve the issue. I even asked them to change the oil instead of the usual top-up at 2nd service. I'm really very worried ..All that dreams and loans for stress and strain these days. The first bike ..Dreamt of one for years and finally, this is what I'm experiencing right now. Very exhausted, mailed re 2 times..They will open a complaint..Showroom technicians will call ..They will investigate and no use. I told them several times that the brake pads are making noise..They are overheating because even without breaking the pads are in touch with the disk always, technicians mentioned it's like that..It's normal. Very unsatisfactory experience..I several times thought why did I even think of buying re why did I burden myself with loans and a lot of stress and time for this kind of experience.

    Buying experience :

I bought my dream bike royal enfield classic 350 3 yrs back. I had to wait for 6 months before it was delivered to me .

    Riding experience :

I would say the most comfortable bike if you get the perfect riding posture for you

which depends on your height and weight . I achieved this by trying different handlebars (easily available in aftermarket), adjusting shockers ,nitrogen filled tubeless tyres and alloy wheels .

    3. Details about looks , performance etc :

I would say i loved the cg of the bike , never felt any lag in power and bike has lot of control. But obviously it took me six month before i could lean my bike on sharp turns. Bike has lots of power even with a payload of 200 kgs .

    4. Servicing and maintenance :

I personally do not like the service done by royal enfield authorised guys . They just do the replacement of parts and washing . I tried my servicing with guys who have been doing it for old bullet. Yes, the bearing and chain sprocket was always been a issue and small things like breather pipe , break shoes was like always to be replaced in each servicing.

And don't forget about the tik tik tappet sound ...(patent sound ).

    5. Pros and cons :

    More power at lower price

    Good mileage

    After market is huge

Bike requires much maintenance , not a good choice in rainy seasons .

    Ideal for touring

Need rear disc brakes for classic 350.. Stopping power is less.

    Kshitij Uniyal

  • One of the best machine with a lot of pride and respect. But needs to grow some more.

    Ajay Jayakumar

Still remember the date of booking this bike it was on oct12th 2014 and i got the bike form sri velavan motors chennai and got it delivered on 22nd nov 2014 after giving tremendous pressure to sales guy .

  • One of the best machine with a lot of pride and respect. But needs to grow some more.

    Ajay Jayakumar

    Niranjan J R

Very unsatisfactory experience..I several times thought why did I even think of buying re why did I burden myself with loans and a lot of stress and time for this kind of experience.

    Tips for other riders

Better to mail RE directly. I have seen just inexperienced boys working as technicians who learn their job in our new bikes..please be careful.
