If anything that can let royal enfield down is its after sales service....The authorised service centres are leaving no stone unturned in forcing people to think twice before buying their most loveable dream bike....Because once they purchase this bike, the authorised service centres will make their life miserable and pockets empty.
Being in a transferable job i have seen authorised service centres of five states, out of which, centres in up are really bad, but the worst are located at allahabad. I have bad experiences with both jaypee motors and vrindavan auto....People here are just sitting for looting people...Whatever problem you may have with your bike they will force ably do the servicing first, then change the engine and will do all jobs which have heavy replacement value involving huge sums of money with least amount of effort. They will never look for actual problem, but will always find ways and means to increase the bill.
The best part is they will justify all their wrong doings and their is nobody up the chain, who is interested in improving....
    Shameful...

Style the style is perfect for long rides. Just one thing pinches that the colour is too sensitive. Just a scratch of nail too is enough to damage the look.

Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox engine performance is good, but needs attention towards the oil seals. Clutch and gear box leakages need to be repaired. It shows the lithargy while assembling the bike. Fuel economy is perfect. Gearbox need to be smoothened.

    Ride quality & handling perfect.

Final words finishing of the logo, fuel tank cover and the colour is too poor. Rest, the bike is perfect.

Areas of improvement assembly needs to be improved. Plastic cover of the dynamo needs to be replaced with steel.

  • Expectations vs reality

    Saket Gyani

I’m using a classic 350 for around two years and have ridden it for around 25000 km. So i guess i can review this motorcycle fairly.

    Buying experience:

I had already done my research about this bike and had decided to buy the classic 350. At their kandivali west showroom, sales guys did their job clearing some doubts i had. They were hard selling the louder exhaust though. I booked my bike and had to wait for 9 months to get the bike. Waited another month to get the registration done.

    Riding experience:

I liked riding this bike a lot. Before this, i had a yamaha gladiator. I still do. Initially i felt the classic 350 was a powerful bike but that was only in comparison with the gladiator. But as i clocked more and more miles on the bike i realize that it is damn sluggish and buying a royal enfield is a fad.

It is under powered. I know some enfield owners think that this bike is not supposed to be powerful. Well, i don't want my bike to be a race machine, but i need power to overtake quickly. The bike takes some time to gain speed. Acceleration is slow. Also, the bike really struggles past the speed of 90km/h. I have taken the bike till 110km/h but the bike vibrates so much at speeds beyond 80 km/h. I’d like to get a torquey bike especially when i’m touring.

Another issue is the vibrations. Engine is not rubber mounted. Actually nothing on the bike is rubber mounted. So a lot of vibrations. You tend to get tired on long rides. Only plus side is that the seating position is comfortable for touring. Also, since the bike vibrates a lot, you need to keep a check on all nuts and bolts getting loose.

    Servicing and maintenance:

Always serviced my bike at authorized re workshop. Tried kandivali and jogeshwari. Both are equally bad. They don't take an effort to understand the problem. They usually hard sell engine flushing. They don't service as per what's written in the manual. Sure, riding the bike post service feels good because of the oil change but most of the issues remain unsolved.

Here are the pros and cons of owning a classic 350:

    Pros.

    1. Styling. Retro design and amazing paint job.

    2. Fuel economy. I have been consistently getting 40 kmpl.

    3. Comfort. The riding position is upright and the bike feels very comfortable .

    Cons

    1. Tires: the rear wheel can take the tire of the specs 110/90-18. It is a weird size. No manufacturer makes this size. Mrf specially makes the tires of this size for royal enfield. Finding the tube for the rear wheel is a big task in case you have to replace it. I have a tube of 100/90–18 (rear tire size for honda unicorn, hence popular) in my rear tire as i couldn’t find the right size anywhere. Since the bike has spoke wheels, you cannot install tubeless tires. And in case you are thinking of upsizing your wheels and tires, you cannot do it without modifying your bike (getting a new swing arm). And if you do that, it changes the gear ratios as the wheel size changes.

    2. Clutch cable: it breaks frequently. Always a good idea to keep a spare with your tool kit. Mine broke twice in one year and i was lucky to get access to a spare cable when it happened. Also, the clutch feels a little hard. In peak hour mumbai traffic, when you need to use the clutch a lot, it gets really uncomfortable.

    3. Under powered

    4. Vibrations

    5. Issues relating to the weight of the motorcycle

The bike is heavy. One thing i know about the tourers; is that, they always want their bike smaller and lighter. Keeping that aside, the bike has weight issues and it trickles down to the bearings supporting the wheels. Had mine replaced thrice in a year. I was facing a problem where the bike would weaver around and not go straight if i kept the speed between 30 and 40km/h. It would be a little tricky while turning at that speed especially in the rain. Changed the bearings and the problem got solved.

The ‘cons’ i have mentioned are experienced first hand. No one told me about them when i was asking people their opinion about the bike before buying it. I think i’m done with this bike for now. Had a really nice time with it but i need to move on to an intermediate bike to my ultimate touring bike, triumph tiger. I’ll probably get used to handling power with a kawasaki versys x 300 when it gets launched. Then i shall buy my ultimate travel companion, triumph tiger.

Royal emfield classic 350 is not perform really good with the latest technology bs4. There are lots of complaints from my side because i buy this bike at 4/april/2017. And no one is there to listen. There is a problem in carburetor and amp meter and don't know how can i servive with this.

My biking experience is amazing . I never ever seen any bike which can compete royal enfield , it gives very much comfort to rider in the whole journey irrespective of its distance, engine power is definitely very much which can increase the joy of your journey , in my views if you want to buy a bike for long distance travel then royal enfield bullet and classic will definitely meet your requirements

This worst bike ever..What is riding experience means.

Full burnout engine...Oil dripping never be solved...Handle curve worst in segment..You can't do work fast with this bike...In case of emergency it's dumbest bike...And after purchase you have to carry burden of service centre...Cause they are making fool everybody and their aim only to making money...Not satisfied customer..

What we get in 1.6 lakh ? tube tyre which we get difficulties when there is puncture while touring! no fuel indicator! noisy engine after 1-2 yrs! rusting issue! is it worth buying re ? just for looks and feelings? re should think about people, what they expect in 1.6 lakh rupees, look into this...
