KTM has unveiled the all-new 2022 KTM RC 200 for the international markets, and the updated motorcycle should arrive on Indian shores very soon.
The latest iteration of the motorcycle packs several upgrades over its predecessor. The styling revision to the 2022 model brings a single-pod halogen headlight that replaces the twin-pod projector-style units on the old model. Unlike the 2022 KTM RC 125 and the RC 390, the new RC 200 uses a halogen headlight. The rest of the lights, on the other hand, are LED. More changes are visible in the cockpit, and the 2022 model uses a larger LCD screen instead of the compact orange backlit unit on the old motorcycle.
Internationally, the 2022 KTM RC 200 has been listed in two colours – Black and White. Both colour options feature a KTM decal that runs across the fairing, a KTM logo on the tank, a dual-tone finish, and orange paint for the sub-frame and the alloy wheels.
The 2022 model also gets a revised chassis that now features a bolted sub-frame instead of the welded unit on the previous generation model. The updated setup is claimed to shed 1.5kg over the old model. The new five-spoke wheels also help reduce one kilogram from the overall weight. The 2022 model tips the weighing scale at 151kg (dry).
The suspension tasks are handled by 43mm WP APEX big piston forks with 120mm travel at the front and WP APEX mono-shock with 150mm travel at the back. The braking setup includes a 320mm single disc with a four-piston radial fixed calliper at the front and a 230mm single rotor with a single-piston floating calliper at the back. The safety net is provided by a Bosch 9.1 MB dual-channel ABS with Supermoto mode to disengage the system at the rear.
The company has also revised the ergonomics for friendlier and upright ergonomics. The updated handlebar setup sits 15mm higher than the previous-generation model. However, it can be lowered by 10mm for a more aggressive riding position. The seats have been redesigned and the 2022 RC 200 uses more foam, profile, and new material.
The old motorcycle already complied with the Euro5/BS6 emission norms and thus the mechanical specifications remain unaltered. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine makes 25.4bhp of power and 19.5Nm of peak torque.
