Yamaha R15 V4 is a sports bike available in 5 variants and 9 colours. The Yamaha R15 V4 is powered by 155cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 18.1 bhp and a torque of 14.2 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, Yamaha R15 V4 comes up with anti-locking braking system. This R15 V4 bike weighs 141 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 11 liters.

Yamaha Motor India has announced the launch of the 2023 YZF-R15 range in our market. For 2023, Yamaha has updated the colour palette for the standard variant of the YZF-R15, while the M version gets additional features.

The instrument cluster on the YZF-R15M, for example, is now a colour TFT display instead of an LCD unit on the previous version. The new display, similar to the unit on the previous version, benefits from Bluetooth connectivity, and the system works with a dedicated smartphone application. The Bluetooth function adds features such as incoming call alerts, SMS and email notifications, and phone battery level. Further, the smartphone application helps track fuel consumption, provides maintenance recommendations, saves the last parked location, and shows malfunction notifications.

The M variant also benefits from LED turn indicators while retaining features such as the single bi-functional LED headlight with twin-LED DRLS, LED taillight, Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), assist and slipper clutch, traction control system, two ride modes (Track and Street), dual-channel ABS, and a quick-shifter (upshifts only) from the previous version. Meanwhile, the standard model retains the LCD console with Bluetooth connectivity and halogen-type turn indicators. Further, the quick shifter is available as an accessory for Dark Knight and Metallic Red paint options of the standard model.

The mechanical specifications remain unaltered, and the 2023 Yamaha YZF-R15 continues to use the same 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, SOHC, four-valve, fuel-injected engine with VVA system as its predecessor. However, the 2023 model comes equipped with an onboard diagnostics (OBD-II) system that monitors the emission levels in real time. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, this motor is tuned to deliver a maximum output of 18.1bhp at 10,000rpm and a peak torque of 14.2Nm at 7,500rpm.

The styling remains similar to its predecessor, and the 2023 iteration of the motorcycle retains a modern design. The styling elements include full-fairing, fairing-mounted rear-view mirrors, clip-on handlebar, split-style seat, side-slung exhaust, and 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends. The 2023 YZF-R15M is listed in a single paint option – Metallic Grey. The standard YZF-R15, on the other hand, gets three colour themes – Metallic Red, Racing Blue, and the newly added Dark Knight.

Similar to the design, the hardware is retained from the previous version, and the motorcycle continues to use a deltabox frame. The suspension tasks are handled by 37mm upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock. The braking setup includes a 282mm single disc at the front and a 220mm single rotor at the back, while the safety net on both variants includes a dual-channel ABS and traction control system. The 17-inch alloy wheels are shod in 100/80-section front and 140/70-section rear tyres. Further, the rear wheel uses a radial-type tyre.

    • The seat on the rider and pillion sides are well cushioned, and there’s no sign of fatigue during long rides.

        Very good bike

        Rahi Raza

This bike is a strong option for people who want a mix of daily commuting comfort and a sporty appearance. The overall design looks sharp and modern, with LED headlamps and a sleek tail-light setup that makes the bike stand out on the road. The fuel tank is shaped in a way that gives a good grip to the rider, and the seating posture is upright and comfortable, which helps during long rides without causing too much strain.

        Engine & performance
        • The 155 cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder with VVA delivers around 18.4 PS and about 14.2 Nm torque.
        • Many reviewers praise how refined it feels even at higher revs; it doesn’t feel stressed, which is impressive for its class.
        • The handling is repeatedly highlighted as a standout: sharp, nimble, corner-friendly chassis.
        • Mileage is decent for a sporty faired bike: Users report around 45-50 km/L in city/highway conditions.

I buy this bike because of looks and aggressive posture and I'm obsessed with this bike affordable sports bike in this segment if you are beginner, you can definitely go for it, best 155cc bike in the segment with better riding experience. “Yamaha revs yours heart” This line is perfect for this bike.
The Yamaha R15 V4 is one of the most popular and refined sportbikes in the 150cc segment. It represents the perfect blend of style, performance, and advanced technology, carrying forward Yamaha’s racing DNA in a compact, everyday-friendly package.
The R15 V4 looks like a mini superbike. Its design is inspired by the Yamaha R7 and R1, giving it an aggressive and premium appearance. The sharp front fascia with a bi-functional LED projector headlamp, flanked by LED DRLs, gives the bike a futuristic look. The aerodynamic bodywork is not just for show — it helps improve high-speed stability. The build quality feels solid and premium, with neatly fitted panels and high-quality paint finish.

        Worst of service

        Bhanu

Bommanahalli, Bangalore showroom. They say 10 minutes, but it always takes an hour.
If it’s a paid service, they do it first, but if it’s a free service, they’re careless.
Even for a free service, it costs around 2000.
Honestly, such service is not worth it at all
If anyone asks me about a bike, I tell them not to take a Yamaha.

Yamaha r15 is a legendary bike which offers a good mileage

        Mayank Pranjal

R15 Yamaha has a deltabox frame chassis with good mileage and the best riding posture. Sometimes its posture is not so good for long rides, but it’s long run pickup and top speed is very good. Braking is very stable as compared to other racing bikes with its traction control system and ABS, which helps the rider have smooth rides.

Stunning but to be doubted in reliability

        Allwin Jose

it is a good bike and offers good mileage as specified but the problem is in the context of adding unwanted specs like a quick shifter they lose the quality in basic parts like battery, and radiator fan within one year of my experience I have changed my radiator fan and battery which will last at least 2-3 years in even moderate priced bikes.

        Tips for other riders

Get a handle bar raiser for a good riding experience and have a constant check-up for radiator fan batteries and such components which are malfunctioning in most of the models.

This bike is not for you.

        Nikhilesh G

        1. I bought it from perfect riders, which is an authorized Yamaha dealer. Their staff is good, but once you get your bike, they don't respond to you properly. So my buying experience is not good.
        2. The riding experience is good only for short rides; if you want to do a long road trip and the daily commute, this is not the right bike for you. The pillion seat is not at all comfortable. If you ride this bike for a long time, you'll end up with lower back and wrist pain. This bike is for performance, not to ride comfortably.
On December 31, 2022, I went on a one-day trip with my sister on my brand-new yamaha r15 v4. In one day, I covered almost 290 to 300 kilometers. After coming back to my house, my lower back started to hurt, and my sister felt uncomfortable because of the seat height and because there was no handlebar to hold on to for support. And this is not a suitable bike to commute every day or for long highway runs.
        3. The best performance bike in the 155cc segment looks like the Yamaha r7.
        4. Compare to r15 v3, v4 service cost is a bit high even the spare parts price as well
        5. Pros: best performance bike in the 155cc segment.
Cons: the price is high for 155cc segment
        Committed riding position.
The seat is not at all comfortable for the pillion.
Service cost & spare cost is a bit high compared to r15 v3 & mt15.
Not suitable for a road trips.

        Disadvantages of v4

        Manjeel Rai

Let me just put out the cons of this bike:
        1. Radiator fan stops working after 1 or 2 thousand kilometers
        2. Valve or vva starts making noise after 4-5k kms
        3. The aftermarket accessories made by yamaha are very poor in quality like the seat cover, frame slider useless products.
        4. This bike ain't for the hills, people living in hilly areas don't think of purchasing it.
I'm from Gangtok and this bike sucks. When u are riding upwards it fails to provide power, when u are riding downslope, your hand and back hurt like hell.
So, that's my honest opinion about the bike.

        Poor top speed is 125

        Tridev Pradhan

The bike is good but the latest speed is 125 kmph.
If you are riding a long tour then this is not good because the back pain and right-hand pain will be started. Self-start issue this bike has no sudden pickup. When you are going on a long drive then your body and right hand will start pain and back pain also. The indicator is so bad.
