Introduction

The annual call to all citizens of the two-wheeled world in India has been sounded out again. Hear ye, Hear ye, India Bike Week is back!

It began as a little gathering in Goa of the two-wheeler community back in 2013. This was a basic space for the biking fraternity to gather and share their experiences. However, things took a major turn when Harley-Davidson decided to ‘adopt’ the festival thus adding its flavour of ‘community’ and giving real strength to the gathering. It has now grown into one of India’s largest gathering of bikes.

2014 and 2015

The 2014 and 2015 editions were huge and 2016 promises to be nothing short of spectacular. Expect prominent members of the biking fraternity, stunt shows, dyno runs, movies, build-offs, music, beer, babes and of course lots and lots of motorcycles across various sizes, shapes and eras. The 2015 Edition of India Bike Week also saw the hosting of the Howling Dog Drag race. A first for the festival and a chance for the visitors to see what life is like quarter mile at a time.

The gathering has also become a hub for many dealers and producers of accessories and riding gear to display their wares. The retail section had grown from just a few stalls in the first year to a full-fledged market during the 2015 edition. If you are looking to stock up or purchase the essentials then the shops at the IBW arena should be your first destination once you check in.

2016 and beyond

The potential for India Bike Week to grow even further is quite visible in the burgeoning crowds that throng the arena every year. Each year sees something new being introduced to the festival allowing for a new set of the population to come in and soak up the atmosphere.   With a growing interest in two-wheelers across the country there is no telling how big this festival may grow in the future.
