If the Panigale V4 and V4 S aren’t hardcore enough for you, there is an option. It’s called the V4 R, and it is technically road-legal, but it is designed for maximum pace at the race track. That is because it is the machine that allows Ducati to participate in the WSBK racing series, which is a series that is based on machines that can be purchased by a regular Joe.
The 998cc V4 Desmosedici Stradale R motor generates 218bhp and 112Nm, which is different to the standard Panigale’s 211bhp/124Nm/1103cc. You also get a larger windscreen and winglets on the fairing, for better aerodynamics. Forged Marchesini wheels and mechanically adjustable race-spec Ohlins. In addition to the full electronics suite that the Panigale V4 offers – cornering ABS, traction control, slide control, wheelie control, launch control, engine brake control, and two-way quickshifter, the Panigale V4 R also offer a pit lane speed limiter and lap timer, which shows its focus towards the racetrack.
Remember when we said ‘regular Joe’ before? Well, Joe, you’re going to need a smidge over Rs 52 lakhs for the Panigale V4 R, because that is what it costs, ex-showroom. And there are only five allotted to the Indian market, so good luck getting one for yourself.
