As far looks concern it has bad ass look. And performance also good.

This is the best option for city ride. This bike is more comfortable for city traffic and short routs.

And having good mileage which make this bike economical best for all class bikers.

And my suggested name for this bike is city junkies

    Chaitanya

    Black gixxer sf rear disc.

Driven 7000 kms in around 8 months, mostly in daily commute to office and short highway sprints for fun. I am no pro, i have driven a lot of bikes for short duration, this is my first proper bike.

    Style

this bike looks awesome, one of the main reasons i brought it. Many times people ask me which bike is it or how costly it is, its that good. Paint job and overall quality of components is fantastic.

Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox

engine performance is very good for a bike of comparable displacement. I find the acceleration as the best part about my bike. The gear ratios are awesome in my opinion. They make it so easy to drive this bike in the city or the highway (easily 115km/hr). In crawling traffic, you can just zip through without much shifts at all. Gearbox is clicky, could have been a bit soft but i have got used to the clicky feel. In my near 7k of driving till now, i have never encountered a false gear shift or such from the gearbox. The gearbox was a bit stiff till the 1st service, it has only become smoother since then. Mid range performance plus gearbox totally owns the segment. Fuel economy is decent. I haven't measured it by the scale but its definately above 40kmpl mark

    ride quality & handling

vibration is negligible. You will only notice it on high speeds mostly on the foot rest. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, this thing is refined. After every servicing, it feels like new that regards.

Brakes : go for the rear disc variant please. I had driven my friends gixxer sf without rear disc for some time and i always felt that the brakes could be better. When i brought mine, i immediately fell in love with the front+rear disc setup. Since the brakes are so good, you can push the bike, because you know, those brakes will handle anything that might come.

    Final words

for the price, i think there's no bike better than this. Even if there are, you will never regret buying gixxer sf. It looks good, fuel economy is very good, perofrmance is nice and most importantly, it's fun to drive. I have finished 8000kms and i still love to drive my gixxer around as if its new. Be realistic though. Don't expect it to beat a cbr150 or r15 in terms of performance, those are 150 ccc with more torque and oil cooling.

    Areas of improvement

#1 i would have loved split seat. Any one who sits behind complains about not being very comfortable (compared to normal commuter bikes with flat seats & the height is much more.).

#2 The rear suspension could have been a bit soft. Mine is already set on the lowest possible setting. This is not a problem really, i am being nit picky. :P

  • My gixxer sf sp built for everything ;)

    Archit Dixit

Long detailed review. Read with patience :)

    1. Taking test drives- it was a rainy day in ratlam mp.(Was raining non-stop for days) i wanted a comfortable bike with good looks & mileage that gives me a hassle-free experience. Shortlisted apache 200,pulsar rs200,cb hornet 160r & gixxer sf.(2 Faired & 2 naked bikes)

didn't like rs200 for the kind of engine it offered @ that price & it being the typical bulky bike bajaj makes.(Don't judge me as i own a pulsar 150 too;) apache 200 had a sticky gearbox & not a really good engine too so it was out of the race. Hornet was a real downer as guys @ honda were not ready to give test drive on a rainy day & engine was not good in lower rpm area & handle bars were looking like they came out of a entry level 100cc bike(where is the engine kill switch? don't need that much inconvenience)

then went to suzuki's. The sales guy was good(explained bikes' features well & did typical tel-paani to the potential buyer;) took a long drive on wet roads (highway + under construction roads). & Finally decided to go for this little beast.

Buying experience- was not really good as the dealer promised to get me 25k for my 5year old pulsar but failed to keep his promise. Everything else related to gixxer sf was done well & i was told that i'll be get my black sf in 10 days. Then suzuki launched the sp edition that i had better looks so i inquired about it & got my order changed for sp edition.

Now coming to the bike, it had no vibration coming from any area. Reached 60kmph real fast. Had decent bite in brakes.(Front one was really good & rear brake wasn't that impressive but good enough for slow braking) engine felt much refined(coming from a pulsar 150 here;). Gearbox was quite responsive. Instrument cluster had a nice layout & was easy on eyes.

Love the looks of it. This sp edition looks much better than the regular sf to me as it has the colours of my choice.(Black, brown & grey) it makes heads turn;)

coming to performance, it has a real good sounding exhaust(sounds like a true sports bike when driven fast) that urges u to accelerate it more.(Hold ur desire during run-in period for engine's health;) it has enough power to cruise around 100kmph all day. The low weight helps its acceleration. Engine doesn't overheat in traffic & has amazing low end power that it doesn't let it stall even if u go as low as 15kmph in 4th gear. U can even skip the 1st gear & it won't feel like u strained the engine. It's that good;)

comfort- shocks r absorbed quite decently. Rider has a nice sitting posture that isn't too sporty or relaxing. It's the pillion seat that feels a little short to my liking but it has good level of comfort and gives pillion a good view of action:)

fuel economy- giving me minimum 40kmpl in heavy traffic & above 50kmpl on highway. Totally satisfied with it :)

now coming to servicing & maintenance- got it serviced according to the user manual. Didn't give me any huge problem till now.(Looking forward to the same experience in future too as i keep real good care of it:) was giving a squeaking sound when the front brake was applied & a little less slick gear change was felt. Got the gearbox problem solved but the front wheel squeaking has returned again:( engine is in perfect condition & didn't give any problem. Timely fluid changing keeps it in prime condition.

    Pros-

    great looks

    very good mileage

    comfortable posture for rider

nice grip even in wet conditions

nice handling thanks to low weight of sf

engine free from vibration if driven sanely

    cons-

    pillion comfort not great

headlight doesn't have the best illumination

  • Gixxer sf: dissected

    Indranil Mondal

I locked eyes with the suzuki gixxer sf first in the year 2015, and i have been a fan since. However, come november 2016, i would make one mine. I bought the matte grey version, with new rear disc brake and clear lens led tail light as standard on the bike. The guys at suzuki were really helpful, and i had the bike in no time.

I am a rider who rides for 70-80 kms on indian roads with innate potholes and bumps on a regular basis, so it may come as no surprise that the main criteria while buying a bike was mileage. And i can say truly that on the mileage front, this bike delivers. 45Km/l is no big deal, and with 14.6Bhp of power, the throttle response is sharp and quick for a 150cc bike. The console is amazing as well as handy, and the seat is nice and plush. Pillion riders can finally enjoy their part on this bike, unlike other sports bikes in this category. Braking is excellent for a 150cc, with required bite and progression. The 140/60 rear 17 inch mrf rev z tyre is a delight to ride on indian roads. The exhaust sound is nice and throaty. The gearbox is smooth, and the engine is rev-happy.

Well, if truly asked about cons, i'll be nitpicking. I feel the mirrors are not adequately shaped for high traffic areas, as they lean out of the bike a fair bit. The use of plastic on this bike has been extensive, and the tank, a 12 lt one, though maybe adequate for some, is not for me.

All in all, a great bike, if one has mileage in mind and is looking to buy a 150cc bike with sporty looks and fast acceleration.

  • Transformer of its era

    Aditya Singh

Suzuki gixxer sf it is a great bike and now also available with double disk break.

It is one of the best bike in that price and in that era.

It has flattered almost all bike in his range.

    Lets talk about details:-

Fuel consumption:- well you will be surprised that company claims that gixxer on road avg is around 60.

Although its average is very decent you will get an average of 50-55 any time and which is more than enough by looking at it, means you will not get this average in any other bike with same muscles. Rating 4/5

Comfort:- yup so about comfort driver seat is very comfortable and you can drive 300-400 comfortably .

I have experienced the same and i found it good,

Well for the co driver seat(back seat) it is not at all comfortable.

Back seat is very narrow and not at all comfortable. Sorry but its back seat deserve 2/5 only.

Reliability:- you can consider this reliable bike, i am using the same from last 1 and half year and it is running fine.

Handling and control:- yup if you look at it as a sports bike than handing is not like a sports bike means it is having normal handling but comfortable. 3/5

Control:- it is having good control, also it has gone through air tunnel test, control is fantastic .

I was on 118km/h and then also it was in control. 4/5

Looks:- well look is the major factor behind the success of this bike, almost 50-60% buyers have bought this bike because of its look.

At any time you cant neglect its style, muscles and looks. It will give you the feeling of perfect sports bike.

And in sf model you will fell that more. 4.5/5

Buying experience :- well frankly speaking after buying this bike , i was some kind of celebrity in my area for few days. I will give 5/5

Riding experience :- you will feel the joy of racing while riding it , although for your partner it can be little uncomfortable , 4/5
