QJ Motors and Adishwar Auto Ride India have partnered to offer the Chinese brand’s products in the Indian market. The Chinese manufacturer has launched four products in our market, and the list includes the company’s middleweight retro-style motorcycle, the SRC 500.

This stylish retro model packs design elements such as a round headlight, a teardrop-shaped 15.5-litre fuel tank with a chrome filler cap, a single-piece saddle with a ribbed pattern, two-piece chrome pillion grab rails, sided-slung peashooter exhaust, and alloy wheels on both ends. This motorcycle gets three dual-tone paint themes – Silver Black, Gold Black, and Red White. The colourways affect the ex-showroom prices of the SRC 500.

Meanwhile, the mechanical specifications of the SRC 500 include a 480cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This motor is tuned to deliver a maximum output of 25.3bhp at 5,750rpm and a peak torque of 36Nm at 4,250rpm. The feature list on this motorcycle comprises a twin-pod full-LCD console and a dual-channel ABS.

The SRC 500 packs telescopic front forks and twin-sided rear springs to handle the suspension duties. Further, the braking setup comprises a 300mm disc at the front and a 240mm rotor at the rear. The alloy wheels are shod in wire-spoke wheels.

The bookings for the new SRC 500 are open at the Moto Vault dealerships across India. The prices for the new SRC 500 are in a similar range as the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.

    SRC 500 Pros and Cons

    • Good Things

      • Overall styling is quite pleasing
      • Equipped with decently powerful engine
      • Gets modern features
    • Could be Better

      • Misses out on LED lights
      • Poor brand recall
      • Poor sales, service access

    BikeWale's Take

The QJ Motor SRC 500 is one good looking motorcycle. It gets modern retro styling that makes it look a bit aspirational. The 480cc engine on this bike churns out decent performance and the bike is equipped with some modern features. However, the brand is new, due to which it doesn’t have the same recall like other bikes in the segment.

QJ Motor SRC 500 Expert Opinion

We tested the motorcycle for a week, over a few hundred kilometres to bring you a detailed road test review. And similar to every other review on our website, we are going to start with its styling.

The bike experience is good, and it has a big engine that feels heavy. Its weight is also more, and it gives approximately 26 to 28 km mileage. The look is okay, not so good, but it sounds good. Overall, it is just okay; its looks are similar to Royal Enfield, Honda CB300R, and Jawa, but it looks quite different. Its performance is good.

A bike with personality and a few limitations

        Chaitanya Ravi

I bought this bike in November 2024 and have ridden it for 1500 kms so far. A bit early to judge the bike comprehensively but its strengths and weaknesses are already clear. Beautiful looking bike. Stands out amongst cruisers with its well-designed proportions. The rider triangle is a bit different from other cruisers and will give you a unique stance between an upright commanding posture of a traditional bullet and the more drooping posture of a continental GT. Heavy at 205 kg but solid metal so road stability is excellent. A bit difficult to maneuver in the city given the weight and the sheer momentum that comes with it but I have gotten used to it.
Wonderful thumping exhaust note which is similar yet different from the Royal Enfields. Its a real pleasure to hear the gurgling sound of the engine puttering away as its loud enough to be heard inside the helmet. The specs may say this is just a 25 bhp engine but the high torque means that pickup is deceptively quick and there is no engine stress cruising between 70-85 kms/hour all day long. On-road mileage is good at around 30kmph. Suspension is satisfactory and absorbs the worst of Indian roads. Excellent pulling power on steep inclines but the weight (and the brakes) make stopping on downslopes a bit challenging.
The bike needs brakes with a sharper bite. They are just about adequate and are stretched to their limits when making sudden stops, which affects ride confidence. The rear brakes in particular really need to be upgraded. The original tyres are also a bit underwhelming in muddy-slushy conditions (also on gravel-filled roads) and tend to skid easily. They are probably the bike's weakest link. The bike's engine also heats up considerably during start-stop conditions in the city which is not a problem in the rains but definitely radiates heat to the feet in the summer.
The bike also lacks the rider-assist technologies (turn by turn navigation etc) which are found on Royal Enfields. Both the dealership (buying) and servicing experiences were quite good. Servicing cost is a bit pricy at about Rs 4500 per service and service intervals are once every 5000 kms (approx). Other minor issues include the absence of a rear back rest for the pillon and the open-chain that becomes prone to muddying up in slushy conditions. Overall, I am quite happy with my purchase and would recommend it for someone willing to try something new in a country now saturated with Royal Enfields.

The bike is good-looking, smooth to ride, and suitable for long road trips. But when it's come to service then it's weird that the service cost is more than 6000 which is too high and that too 4 months once, we have to leave for service. Service cost is very high and it is really bad. Not happy with the service cost
