The BMW S1000R is a stripped down, streetfighter version of the supersport S1000RR. It derives its aggressive stance as well as the unique asymmetrical headlamps from the S1000RR.
THE 2017 S1000R gets a few upgrades over the outgoing model. It features re-designed radiator shrouds that expose a bit more of the engine. It now uses a Euro 4 compliant, 999cc in-line four cylinder engine. This engine now produces 162bhp over the earlier 158bhp and 112 Nm of torque. The bike also has dropped 2kgs due to its lighter frame and now weighs 205kgs.
Apart from the Akrapovic exhaust as standard, the S1000R also gets a host of new electronics. The bike now features a Bosch IMU, meaning the bike now boasts cornering ABS and lean-angle sensitive traction control. The S1000R comes in three variants and all three are equipped with ABS and ASC (Automatic Stability Control) as standard with two standard modes and two optional Pro modes. All three variants also get aluminium wheels, adjustable brake lever and aluminium fuel tank in common. The Sport model gets four additional features - Gear Shift Assist Pro (which is a bi-directional quickshifter), ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and cruise control. The top-of-the-line version – Pro - gets additional Dynamic Damping Control (DDC), heated grips, engine spoiler and white LED turn indicators. BMW calls this set of features as Dynamic Package.
The S1000R is available in three colours- grey, white/blue and red/black. The streetfighter competes against the Suzuki GSX-S1000, Kawasaki Z1000, Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 and Honda CB1000R.

2017 bmw s1000r is one of the premium street fighter that retails in India for inr 16,90,000. The liter class machine is good for 157.8 bhp at 11000 rpm and 112 nm at 9250 rpm. The four cylinder engine on s1000r comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and claims a top speed of 260 kmph. It comes with a fuel tank that measures 17.5 litres while BMW even provides switchable race spec abs. The motorcycle rivals none other than kawasaki z1000, honda cb1000r, suzuki gsx-s1000 and yamaha mt-9. BMW s1000r even competes with ducati monster 1200s. And we know that BMW bike in India was very rare but need to be known it was fabulous and extraordinary
