About Standard

Jawa Standard is a cruiser bike available in 2 variants in India. Its lowest version starts from a price of ₹1,75,773 (ex-showroom) and the top version from a price of ₹1,84,719 (ex-showroom). Jawa Standard generates 27 bhp of power and 28 nm of torque from its 293cc engine. Single cylinder engine of Jawa Standard has a 6 speed manual gearbox. With front disc and rear drum brakes, Jawa Standard comes up with anti-locking braking system. This 170 kg bike is available in 3 colours.

The Jawa Standard sits above the Forty Two in the model hierarchy. It shares its mechanicals with the Jawa Forty Two, but its design harks back to the model that won over the hearts of the Indian customers in its last innings in India.

The Jawa Standard is powered by a BS6-compliant, 293cc single-cylinder liquid cooled engine. It generates 27bhp and 28Nm and has a six-speed gearbox. It runs on conventional telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers. There is a 280mm disc brake at the front, with a 153mm drum for the rear. Single-channel ABS is standard.

Instrumentation consists of a single integrated analog unit that shows speed and fuel, besides an odometer. As befits a neo-retro motorcycle, there is a lot of chrome and the flowing lines are reminiscent of the original Ideal Jawa that was sold in India. Grey, black and maroon are the three colours it is available in. The Jawa Standard retails for Rs 1.64 lakh and competes with the Royal Enfield Classic 350 series and the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350.

Jawa Standard Expert Opinion

  • Good Things

    • Has an authentic appeal
    • Offers a comfortable riding position
    • The throttle response is crisp
  • Could be Better

    • Quality of parts could be better
    • Lacks some modern features
    • Engine has mid-range vibrations

BikeWale's Take

The Jawa Standard has the authentic appeal of the bike it takes inspiration from. It gets a refined engine with a crisp throttle response and smooth gearbox. However, for the price, it lacks modern features and the quality of components could have been better.
