In the world of overland adventures, the Africa Twin has managed to set its own mark. But now, the new Africa Twin wants to conquer the rally world too, with the CRF1000L Rally version which was unveiled recently.

Honda is planning to launch the Africa Twin for the Indian market by mid-2017. This news was confirmed by Yadvinder Guleria, senior vice president, sales & marketing, HMSI.

Honda surprised everyone with the announcement that the Africa Twin was going to be launched in India as a CKD model. While the litre-class adventure touring bike was supposed to go on sale in 2016, Honda seems to have postponed the launch to second quarter of this year.

Frenchman Xavier de Soultrait finished in first position on day 1 of the Dakar Rally, but intentionally committed a speeding violation during a transport stage so that he didn’t have to start the second day first. This meant that Juan Pedrero took honours for the first day, Soultrait’s one-minute penalty dropping him to tenth place overall. 

We have been keeping you up to date with Honda’s ludicrous 750cc adventure scooter for quite some time now. Honda recently teased everyone with a video which didn’t reveal much. However, now there are revealing leaked patent images of this upcoming scooter.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India will launch the Africa Twin in the Indian market sometime next year. Interestingly, the company plans to launch the six-speed DCT variant in India and not the manual six-speed one.

Honda India is getting ready to import, assemble and sell the CRF1000L Africa Twin in India by mid-2017. The adventure motorcycle will be brought in as a completely knocked down (CKD) kit and be assembled at its Manesar plant.

Honda had temporarily suspended operations at its Kumamoto (Ozu-machi, Kikuchi-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture) motorcycle factory after two devastating earthquakes hit the area in south-western Japan. There have been delays in the deliveries of the  Africa Twin and Goldwing models and they are expected to begin deliveries after the re-opening.
