I bought Fz fi on 2015.. It was great to own this muscular machine.. Felt superb in city drive and even in highway.. Just regular oil change and service on every 3000 kms makes me feel as new bike.. Pros.. 1, easy and comfort ride in city 2, feels best braking in 150 segment.. 3 eye catching and rock solid performance.. Cons.. 1, just spray dusts below leg knees in rainy drives.. 2, power lacking and stretching above 100 km speed..

Tips for Yamaha FZ FI

Service 3000 kms once and change Engine oil.. Don't ride rough.. Lube your Chains sprocket when its dry and creates noise.. Wear helmet , be safe and make pillion feel comfort..

Its a gift from my mother to me. I got this bike on August 2010 and I am still riding it as my first love hoping to complete 15 years soon. 86k+ kms on it all a mesmerizing experience. Now, feel it little outdated just because throw of light at night is not as good as new bikes. Technology evolved and this resulted in better headlight in new versions. But I also rode new v2 but is not that great as with older version with carburetor instead of fuel injection system. Might be it is my personal opinion. Most important point is that even after this long tenure initial acceleration of it is almost similar. Yes, no it shows its age at high speed when i try to clock 100+ kmph I think that is obvious.

My big brother bought the FZ 2010 first gen. He rode it for almost 7 years then in 2017 he gave it to me as a gift. For beginners this bike is perfect for daily commutes and touring too. The old gen bike had more power and torque. The new gen is slightly low in power but its good. Looks are awesome and riding position is good and neutral and on long tour it's comfortable but not as much as high cc bikes. On long tours you can sometimes feel the power should be more but that's ok. In city I get mileage of about 40 km/l and on highway about 45-48km/l. One thing is Yamaha parts are expensive and service cost is around 600 Rs per service at dealer.. I had invested lot of money in service centre, parts are good but service is not good.. This bike needs low maintenance and just maintain the chain lube and brakes and tyre pressure for more efficient performance.. Acceleration is good not the best and engine is super reliable and even going on after 11 years. I always go for solo rides, about 250 more kms..
Cons : Seat comfort could be better for long tours.
Yamaha parts are expensive and service centre should be more

Firstly I would like to put it straight forward. My Yamaha FZ fi 150cc was the second version. It was the best first bike to buy. My buying experience was average due to the dealership that I bought it from. As far as riding experience goes. I prefer the seating triangle. It is upright, relaxed and comfortable. Also i have had many people who've sat as a passenger and say that the ride was smooth, no vibrations at all.
to me. My bike looks like an autobot, which i think is radical. Its performance is really good. I just wish it had a 6 speed gearbox. For a 150 cc, its performs well enough, but for commuting or traveling on a highway the 5 speed gearbox just doesn't cut it. Although it is quite torquey, it has a lot of of punch. Just step down to the gear below what you're on and smoke them / overtake them.
Pros: it's a fun bike for beginners. It has a decent 12ltr tank capacity. Great mileage.
Cons: not really recommended for touring long distances because of it's small displacement.

Actually bought a used one but was in really very good condition. The riding was pretty smooth. I think the pickup was very powerful compared to its segment.
The engine is reliable and smooth as always like the Yamaha bikes.
It has got killer looks in its segment but actually I like the looks of BS4 FZ25, but due to short budget I went for the FZ but never regretted.
Maintenance is not on the costlier side or on the cheap side. I always use motul synthetic oil and it gave me a very good feedback. As i bought a used one, I used to service it occasionally in a local workshop I knew and not in Yamaha service centre. I used to service my old scooter in the same workshop and he had done a pretty good job.
Now moving onto the pros and cons,
So talking about pros, I think everything will be pros
1.Breaking is excellent for a 150cc bike.
2.The engine is both reliable and got a sportier performance compared to other bikes in the segment.
3.The seat is cushioned nicely and will give you comfort in long rides. Both pillion and rider will be satisfied.
4.Handling is an important aspect and Yamaha had done a pretty good job there.
And everything else was just as I need it to be.
And now talking about cons
1.Headlight is good but not good enough for long rides. For just city rides it is enough but you will need auxiliary lights for long trips.
2.The tank is made of fiber so magnetic tank bag cant be used for touring. But u can tie up the saddle in the rear.
From my point of view apart from above points I didn't feel any cons in the bike. It was a pretty good deal in its price segment, Yamaha had done a very good job there.

Overall the bike is superb in 150cc bikes. It is the best bike I rode among the 150cc category bikes. Handling is superb. I got upto 50kmpl in long economy rides, and goes below 43kmpl in rough rides. Has a good breaking system on the bike. It has a good initial and excellent mid range performance, this makes the bike good for traffic use and also for long rides. Has decent looks.
But the build quality of the fiber part is too low because of cost cutting. Fuel tank cover(kit) clip will break frequently due to the low quality materials used in the fiber parts of the bike. Screw hole clip on tank cover is low quality material. Headlight is not enough for a long trips, the light is not wide its like a spot lamp.
In my region I got poor service from the service centers. I recommend to find a good mechanic (but may affect warranty I don't know) after free services or to find a good service center. The free service costs 700 or around 1000 for paid service, for a periodic oil change and chain lubing. The rate is reasonable but service I got is poor.
Anyone can go for this bike if they don't care about the negatives I mentioned above. All will love the bike for its comfort , mileage, performance, braking, handling and looks. In some of these its like an above 150cc bike. In performance its a 150cc don't expect too much.
