The TVS Apache is a brand of commuter bikes made by TVS Motors in India. There are 5 new Apache models on offer with price starting from Rs. 95,000 (ex-showroom). The cheapest model under the series is TVS Apache RTR 160 with 159.7cc engine generating 15.3 bhp of power, whereas the most expensive model is TVS Apache RR310 with 312.2cc engine generating 33 bhp of power.

TVS motors needed a premium brand to keep the clientele of the Fiero interested – and thus the Apache was launched in 2006. Originally a 150cc motorcycle, the E-surge 150 was updated to the ‘RTR’ 150. That acronym stands for ‘Racing Throttle Response’; a nod to TVS Motors’ involvement in motorsport, which is quite a few decades old.

Keeping up with the times precipitated the 160cc engine, and the Apache RTR 160 is still sold in updated form today, to compete in the premium commuter segment. Two successive generations of the RTR 160 are available today; the RTR 160 and the RTR 160 4V. The latter has been launched as of March 2018, and sports a number of changes over the older 160 like a 4-valve head and the option of fuel injection. A Showa-tuned rear shock and chassis that has had input from their racing RTR 160 make up the Apache RTR 160 4V. The RTR 180 was the flagship motorcycle at the time of its launch, and competed against with the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar 180 – but it also boasted the best handling at the price. The RTR 180 also offered ABS, one of the first motorcycles in the segment to do so.

The Apache 200 builds on its heritage to offer even more performance than the 180. The engine is a fuel-injected, four-valve unit that doesn’t chase big horsepower figures, choosing to be rideable instead. As such, it can perform the dual role of commuter, and double up as a fun weekend bike for your favourite twisty stretch of road.

The Apache RR 310 is an all-new design that has been developed in conjunction with BMW Motorrad. It sports features like a reverse-sloped engine, liquid cooling, upside down forks, a trellis frame and a full fairing, all firsts for the Apache range. It also has twin LED projector headlamps, which are a first for the segment. Despite all of TVS’s racing know- how being put into it, the company claims it will also make for a comfortable tourer, thanks to the seating ergonomics and engine characteristics. The Apache range remains TVS’s premium brand, and aims to keep pushing the boundaries of performance while never losing sight of everyday usability.

      Bike have severe breaking Issue
      Bikas Yadav
The braking system of the vehicle is completely worst. From the first service, the front brake is making a lot of noise. Even the drum break doesn't make this much noise. At the time of every service, I have raised this issue with the service centre, but the issue has not resolved yet, even after changing the brake pads. It has already completed 4 services, but is still facing the same issue. And now from past few days, the rear brake is not working at all; it's getting stuck while riding fast. reak break pad are just one month old. It doesn't look like dual ABS. It's getting skid in 40-50 speed also. Really disappointed with the braking system of the bike. I never expected that I would face this kind of severe problem after buying this bike. Now I feel that I have made the biggest mistake of my life by purchasing this bike. My bike is just 10 months old, and now I am looking to sell it because of the poor service and issues with the bike. Tvs company is trying to attract the customer by conducting service mela occasionally. But they should look to improve their service quality, and also need to do some R&D into their bike braking system. I suggest to other not purchase this bike who are looking for a 160 CC bike. There are some better options like the Pulsar N160, which is better in every parameter than this bike. Dear TVS, I need a quick resolution to my issue. Please Help

    • TVS Apache RR 310
Very good bike according to this price points but it's not perfect
      4 days ago
      Jay Sabani
The TVS Apache RR 310 is a motorcycle that tries to strike a rare balance between everyday usability and genuine sport-bike character, and for the most part, it succeeds impressively. At first glance, the design immediately stands out with its sharp fairing, aggressive stance, aerodynamic winglets, and premium paint options, giving it a visual presence that feels closer to bigger superbikes than most 300 cc machines. The build quality is solid and reassuring, with tight panel gaps and a sense that TVS has paid close attention to fit and finish. Powering the bike is a 312.2 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces around 38 PS, and while it may not be the most explosive motor in the segment, it is refined, tractable, and confidence-inspiring, especially for riders who want strong performance without feeling intimidated. The engine shines in the mid-range, making highway overtakes easy, while the top end is engaging enough for spirited riding and occasional track use. One of the RR 310’s biggest strengths is its electronics package, which includes ride-by-wire, multiple riding modes (Urban, Rain, Sport, and Track), a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, and safety aids like dual-channel ABS and a slipper clutch, features that are still rare in this category. Handling is another highlight, as the chassis feels stable at high speeds and composed through corners, while the suspension setup is firm but not punishing, making it suitable for Indian road conditions. Despite being a fully faired sport bike, the riding posture is surprisingly manageable, allowing it to be used for daily commuting without excessive wrist or back strain, although the pillion seat and small fuel tank limit its long-distance touring comfort. On the downside, the price can feel slightly high compared to rivals, and hardcore performance enthusiasts may find the power delivery a bit too linear rather than thrilling. However, when you look at the Apache RR 310 as a complete package—combining design, technology, comfort, and performance—it emerges as a well-rounded, mature sport bike that caters not just to speed lovers, but to riders who want a premium, versatile machine that looks exciting, feels safe, and remains practical enough to live with every day.

It has very impressive performance and good handling plus brakes are amazing. The engine is also smooth, with a good base exhaust. Height and posture of the bike are also good. Plus point, the price point of the bike you won’t get such performance and features in any other bike in this range, so go for it. I suggest you purchase it.
