24K Kms Later – Still Feels Right!

Bought this in March 2024 after selling my Unicorn 150. Needed a bike urgently, so I checked all the bikes in the segment of 150-160 cc sports bike — NS160, N160, Xtreme 160, X-Blade, Hornet, MT-15, Gixxer 150 and even the Karizma 210 when it had just launched. Went around showrooms and saw almost everything in this segment.Honestly, I really wanted the Karizma 210. It had that higher appeal at that time. But budget was a stretch, family wasn’t convinced due to the high pillion seat, and I needed a bike immediately. So I dropped that plan and went with the Apache RTR 160 4v Special Edition (Black and Red).At that time, it felt like I was settling. Now I’m actually glad I did. First ride itself changed my opinion. Posture felt right, sound was good, and the bike felt balanced. I have some lower back issues, but this bike has been comfortable — no strain, and suspension handles bad roads well. Now I’ve done almost 24,000 km (just some 200 kms short), and it has held up really well.Performance-wise, it’s a beast for a 160 cc bike. In 4th gear, once you cross around 5k RPM, there’s a proper pull — that feeling never gets old.Biggest underrated thing — gearbox. Very smooth. I’ve ridden all these bikes in this segment, nothing feels this clean while shifting. Also, feature-wise, this bike is loaded for this segment. You get three ride modes, Bluetooth connectivity, adjustable levers, and it actually feels feature-rich for a 160 cc.One thing I’d clearly say — if you’re buying this bike, go for the dual-channel ABS variant. I went with the special edition, which had a rear disc but no dual-channel ABS. The price difference was around ₹5,000. Looking back, I would definitely choose dual-channel ABS. Once you have a rear disc, ABS becomes important — not worth compromising for that small difference.Looks-wise, it’s subjective, but I’ve started loving it more over time. Top speed I’ve touched around 110–120 kmph, but realistically it’s best at 80–85 kmph. Very stable and comfortable to cruise.Maintenance has been simple — oil, filters, brake shoes. Only once I changed the clutch cable. Chain sprocket had to be replaced, but that was because the service center didn’t lube it properly. That’s honestly the weak point — service centers need improvement.Other than that, no major issues. Build quality is decent. Not perfect, but nothing that affects daily use. Even now, I don’t feel like selling it. If I upgrade, I’ll still stay with Apache — maybe RTR 310.

I’ve been riding my TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Special Edition for the past two years, clocking around 10,000 km, and overall, it has been a genuinely satisfying ownership experience. What stands out immediately is the performance. The engine feels refined and responsive, especially in city riding conditions. There’s enough punch for quick overtakes, and the bike never feels underpowered, even on slightly longer highway stretches. The riding posture strikes a good balance between sporty and comfortable, making daily commutes as well as occasional longer rides quite manageable.Handling is another strong point. The bike feels stable around corners and inspires confidence even at higher speeds. The suspension setup does a decent job of absorbing bumps on typical Indian roads, though sharper potholes can still be felt. Braking performance is reassuring, with good feedback and control. In terms of design, the Special Edition definitely adds a premium touch. The overall styling is aggressive and modern, and it still turns heads even after two years. Build quality has held up well so far, with no major rattling issues or significant wear and tear.Fuel efficiency has been reasonable, which is important for daily use. It’s not the most frugal in the segment, but the trade-off with performance feels worth it.The only real downside in my experience has been inconsistent servicing. While some service visits have been smooth and satisfactory, others have felt rushed or lacking attention to detail. This inconsistency takes away slightly from an otherwise excellent ownership experience.Overall, the bike has been reliable, fun to ride, and practical. Despite minor service-related frustrations, I’d still consider it a solid and enjoyable choice in its segment.

Best Performance Bike in the Segment – Apache RTR 160 4V Honest Review

I’ve been riding the Apache RTR 160 4V for a while now, and overall, it’s one of the most exciting bikes you can get in this segment.Performance:This is where the bike truly shines. The engine is very refined and punchy, and you can instantly feel the power, especially in mid and top range. Acceleration is quick, and it feels sporty every time you twist the throttle. Easily one of the best performers in the 160cc category.Comfort & Ride Quality:The riding posture is slightly sporty but still comfortable enough for daily use. Even on longer rides, it doesn’t feel too tiring. The suspension setup is decent and handles most road conditions well.Pillion Comfort:Surprisingly good. The seat is well-cushioned, and pillion riders won’t complain much even on medium-distance rides.Braking & Handling:Braking performance is confidence-inspiring, and the bike feels stable even at higher speeds. Handling is sharp, making it fun to ride in city traffic as well as on highways.Mileage:I’m getting around 40–42 km/l in mixed riding conditions, which is quite reasonable considering the performance it offers.Service Experience:This is one area where TVS could improve. Service quality is not very consistent, and sometimes you may not get a satisfying experience depending on the service center.Final Verdict:If you want a bike that delivers strong performance, sporty feel, and decent comfort, the Apache RTR 160 4V is a great choice. Just be prepared to manage the service aspect a bit carefully.
