1. Buying experience: The buying experience of Himalayan 450 from Royal Enfield is exciting. I went up for a test drive and ended up buying this beast over Triumph scrambler 400 x. Compared to Triumph scrambler 400 x , himalayan 450 has the comfort of riding very well.
2. Riding experience: himalayan 450 is one of the best in the segment of adventure bike compared to other brands, as the upright seating position for those who are height as the does not experience back pain or shoulder pain and it is very comfortable for long rides. The handling of this bike is quite difficult as it has a wide handlebar and long body and it is much suitable for off-road especially due to its rugged frame, long suspension for travel and it is easy to tackle in uneven terrain with ease.
3. The himalayan 450 has a sporty and rugged design as it catch up eyes on roads and it has a look of higher cc bikes look , well Royal Enfield has focused on look .
Front End : At the front the headlamp with a protective grill, giving it a classic look and it equipped with halogen bulbs for reliability and there's a windshield to protect us from wind blast and suitable for long rides
Bodywork and Frame : It is designed to handle for off road and it has a reliable body frame work and stable in highways.
The fuel tank of this vehicle is 15 litre where it has reserve of 3 litres and it has decent mileage of 22 - 23 kmpl and extends adventures without frequent refueling stops.
4. Performance : This 450cc engine provides a sufficient power for both highway crusing and off- road adventures.
It has a high torque end and it has well suited for low speed and climbing steep inclines, typically suitable for off road as well as highway crusing.
But in lower rpm the chai starts highting and produces noise.
It has 6- speed transmission and has a top speed of 160 kmph. The body has very durable and reliable for off road and has a good braking system.
Compared to old himalayan,The new himalayan 450 has a front suspension of usually around 200mm which is suitable for riding. The rear suspension has a monoshock suspension around 180 mm ensuring bike can handle rough terrain without bottoming out.
The accessible seating height of 800-840 mm which is pretty good for both short and tall riders can afford the ground easily.
It has also a better ground clearance compared to other adventure vehicles.
Built-in luggage racks and mounting points allow for easy installation of panniers or other luggage accessories, essential for carrying gear on extended trips.
The rear grab handle is robust and serves as a convenient tie-down point for additional luggage or equipment.
ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) it is main part of the vehicle that we can able to on or off the read abs .
The riding modes of the himalayan 450 has two modes one is eco mode with and without rear abs and it is suitable for riding on highway and crusing purpose and it is much suitable for city rides with lower torque.
The second mode is performance mode with and without abs where the vehicle has been working as beast in high torque and it is useful for off road and terrains.
5. Servicing and Maintenance :
Oil and Filter Changes:
Every 5,000 kilometres or as recommended in the owner's manual.
Regular oil changes are crucial to maintain engine lubrication and performance. Replace the oil filter at the same time.
Air Filter Inspection and Cleaning:
Check every 5,000 kilometres and clean or replace as necessary.
A clean air filter ensures proper airflow to the engine, optimizing fuel efficiency and engine performance.
Chain Maintenance:
Lubricate and adjust the chain every 500-1,000 kilometers or as needed.
Proper chain tension and lubrication reduce wear and tear, ensuring smooth power delivery and prolonging chain and sprocket life.
Brake System

Replace brake pads if they are worn down to the wear indicators. Inspect brake fluid level and condition; replace as recommended.
Tire Care:

Maintain proper tire pressure for optimal handling and tire longevity. Replace tires when tread wear reaches the minimum depth specified.
Electrical System Check:

Ensure all electrical connections are secure and free from corrosion.
Regular maintenance of the suspension system is important to ensure optimal performace.
Props : The eye catch design and for adventure and touring purposes can people afford this machine.
It has a high ground clearance, long travel suspension and built for terrains.
Torque 450cc engine offers sufficient power and smooth delivery, ideal for both highway cruising and off-road
Cons:
Vibrations:
Known to have noticeable vibrations, especially at higher speeds, which can affect comfort on long rides.
The Himalayan 450 is relatively heavy compared to some other adventure bikes in its class.
It has also heating issues as same as well as in old himalayan 411 .The need for more frequent refueling on longer journeys compared to more fuel-efficient motorcycles.
Here Royal Enfield has proved that their the legacy of Royal Enfield motorcycles, known for their classic styling and appeal.

One-Year Ownership Review of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450
Introduction
Having owned the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 for a full year, I’ve had the opportunity to thoroughly test its capabilities and experience its strengths and weaknesses. Here's an in-depth review of my journey with this adventure motorcycle.
Performance
The Himalayan 450 is powered by a new 450cc liquid-cooled engine, which is a significant upgrade from its predecessor. The increase in power is immediately noticeable, providing a more spirited performance both on and off-road. The engine delivers smooth power throughout the rev range, making it ideal for long-distance touring and tackling rugged terrains.
Handling and Ride Quality
The bike’s chassis and suspension are designed to handle rough terrains with ease. The upgraded suspension setup, featuring longer travel and better damping, ensures a comfortable ride even on the most challenging roads. The bike feels stable and planted, giving confidence to the rider when navigating through twisty mountain roads or uneven trails.
Comfort and Ergonomics
One of the standout features of the Himalayan 450 is its rider comfort. The upright seating position, well-padded seat, and ergonomically placed handlebars reduce fatigue on long rides. The windscreen does a decent job of deflecting wind at higher speeds, though an aftermarket upgrade might be necessary for taller riders.
Build Quality and Reliability
Royal Enfield has made significant improvements in the build quality of the Himalayan 450. The fit and finish are top-notch, with robust materials used throughout the bike. Over the past year, I haven’t encountered any significant reliability issues. Regular maintenance and servicing have kept the bike running smoothly.
Fuel Efficiency
Fuel efficiency has been respectable for a bike of this size and capability. I average around 25-30 km/l, which is decent for both city commuting and highway cruising. The 15-liter fuel tank provides a good range, reducing the need for frequent refuelling stops during long trips.
Features and Technology
The Himalayan 450 comes equipped with several modern features, including a semi-digital instrument cluster with a trip meter, gear indicator, and a compass. The inclusion of switchable ABS is a welcome addition, allowing for more control off-road. However, the lack of advanced connectivity features like Bluetooth and navigation is a slight drawback in an otherwise well-rounded package.
Pros
- **Powerful and Smooth Engine:** The 450cc engine is a significant upgrade, offering ample power for various riding conditions.
- **Comfortable Ergonomics:** Ideal for long-distance touring with minimal rider fatigue.
- **Off-Road Capability:** Excellent suspension setup and ground clearance make it a competent off-roader.
- **Build Quality:** Improved fit and finish with durable materials.
- **Switchable ABS:** Adds to the safety and control of the bike.
Cons
- **Lack of Advanced Tech Features:** Missing Bluetooth connectivity and integrated navigation.
- **Weight:** Slightly on the heavier side, which can be felt during slow-speed manoeuvres.
- **Stock Windscreen:** May require an upgrade for better wind protection on long highway rides.
Conclusion
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has proven to be a versatile and capable adventure bike over the past year. Its blend of power, comfort, and off-road capability makes it an excellent choice for both seasoned adventurers and those new to the adventure biking scene. While there are a few areas for improvement, the overall experience has been highly satisfying, and I look forward to many more miles of exploration with this reliable companion.
