Yamaha announces a price cut

Yamaha has announced a price cut for its locally-produced two-wheeler range in India. This move is a result of the industry's move to GST, with Yamaha deciding to pass on the benefits to the customers.

According to GST, two-wheelers with displacement less than 350cc attract 28 per cent duty as opposed to 30 per cent. Yamaha is passing on this benefit to customers by announcing a marginal drop in prices. The savings are in the range of Rs 400 for the Fascino, going up to Rs 1,000 for the YZF-R15. Mind you, these savings are for the ex-showroom prices and we can expect a further drop in the on-road price.

Yamaha is predicting the implementation of GST to accelerate market demand by around 10 per cent. Even other manufacturers have started announcing price cuts for their range.
