Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 vs Yamaha Fazer 25 vs Honda CBR250R- Spec Comparison

Suzuki will launch the highly-anticipated Gixxer SF 250 in India on 20 May. In terms of engine displacement and character, the motorcycle will go head on against the Yamaha Fazer 25 and Honda CBR250R. We check out how the three Japanese motorcycles stack up against each other in this on-paper comparison.

Styling

Let’s begin with the motorcycle of the hour; the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250. The upcoming motorcycle has an aggressively-sharp design language. The front end seems and headlamp design seems to be derived from the ’08 GSX-R750. It has edgy lines right from its front mudguard to the rear section making the styling look complete and extremely appealing.

On the other hand, the Yamaha Fazer 25 has a beefy-looking fairing that gives it an imposing stance. It is also the only feature that differentiates it from its street fighter sibling, the FZ25. The fairing has sharp lines but in its entirety, it looks complicated. Meanwhile, the Honda CBR250R, compared to the other two has a more sporty appeal courtesy its clip-on handlebars. Overall, the angular lines on its bodywork and svelte rear section complete its sports-tourer character.

Features

The Yamaha Fazer 25 and Honda CBR250R come equipped with full-LED headlamp and the Suzuki Gixxer 250 is expected to get LED lighting too. Moreover, it will also sport a full-digital instrument cluster, a feature which the Yamaha Fazer 25 gets but the Honda CBR250R misses out on. The Honda CBR250R gets a analogue tachometer with a digital unit that displays speedometer, odometer, fuel-gauge, trip meters and service due indicator. While the Yamaha Fazer25 and CBR250R get a dual-channel ABS, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 will also come with the same.

Engine

Powering the Honda CBR250R is a 249cc, single-cylinder engine that is liquid-cooled and is rated at 25.7bhp of power and 22.9Nm of torque. The Yamaha Fazer 25 is the least powerful of the lot. Its 249cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine produces 20.3bhp and 20Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is the most powerful among its competitors. The bike’s 249cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled motor produces 26.5bhp of power and 22.6Nm of torque.

Moreover, the engines of all three motorcycles come mated to a six-speed gearbox.

Dimensions and Cycle Parts

The Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki share similar suspension and braking hardware. They ride on telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear while braking duties are taken care of by disc brakes at both ends.

Since the motorcycles are sport-tourers, their fuel-range will be a priority to most. And the Fazer 25 with a fuel-tank capacity of 14-litre has the biggest tank of the three. Next up is the CBR with a 13-litre tank whereas the Gixxer SF 250 has the smallest fuel-tank of 12-litres.

Pricing

We expect Suzuki to price the Gixxer SF 250 somewhere between Rs 1.60 lakhs to Rs 1.70 lakhs. The Yamaha Fazer 25 costs Rs 1.43 lakhs and the Honda CBR250R is pegged at Rs 1.95 lakhs. (all prices ex-showroom).
