Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250: Details Explained

Harley-Davidson has unveiled its new adventure tourer motorcycle, the Pan America 1250. The motorcycle is expected to reach the Indian market, although the company is yet to make an announcement. While we await those details, here we explain the new model in detail.

Design

The adventure tourer from the American two-wheeler brand packs a rugged design. The front features a modern headlight design along with a tall windscreen. The rugged looks are further enhanced by knuckle guards and a skid plate. Other styling cues include a muscular fuel tank with plastic cladding on the top, split-style seats, and a side-slung exhaust. The motorcycle gets alloy wheels as standard while wire-spoke units will be available as an optional extra.

Features

Harley-Davidson will offer the motorcycle in two variants – Standard and Special. The latter is a premium variant of the adventure touring motorcycle that will be loaded with features such as electronically adjustable semi-active suspension, tyre pressure monitoring system, centre stand, adaptive headlight, heated grips, steering damper, and an industry-first Adaptive Ride Height (optional) system. The technology automatically transitions between a low stopped position and an optimal ride height when the motorcycle is in motion.

Other features include full-LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled 6.8-inch colour TFT touchscreen display, and a USB C-type outlet. The Bluetooth connectivity function works with the H-D App and offers access to phone calls, music, and navigation.

The electronic rider aids include ABS, traction control system, cruise control, and five riding modes – sport, rain, road, off-road, and off-road plus. The safety net also includes cornering enhanced electronically linked braking, cornering enhanced ABS, cornering traction control system, cornering enhanced drag-torque slip control system, and hill hold control.

Engine

Both variants are powered by a 1,252cc, Revolution Max 1250 engine that produces 150bhp of maximum power at 9,000rpm and 127Nm of peak torque at 6,750rpm. The six-speed gearbox benefits from a slip and an assist function.

Hardware

The suspension setup on both models include 47mm inverted front forks and a rear mono-shock. The setup on the Standard model features manual adjustability while the Special version benefits from a semi-active system. The braking tasks are handled by dual 320mm rotors with four-piston callipers at the front and a single 280mm disc with a single-piston calliper at the back. The callipers are sourced from Brembo.

Price

The base variant of the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 has been priced at £14,000 (Rs 14.27 lakh) while the Special is available at £15,500 (Rs 15.80 lakh).
