Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro: Top 5 highlights

Ducati India has launched its all-new flagship adventure motorcycle, the Multistrada 1260 Enduro. The motorcycle will replace the Multistrada 1200 Enduro which was on sale in India since 2017. The new Italian ADV comes with a host of noteworthy traits and we list down top five of them.

Larger displacement motor

One of the major changes on the motorcycle is a larger displacement engine. Powered by a 1262cc, L-twin, Testastretta, DVT motor, the Multistrada 1260 Enduro pumps out 153bhp and 129Nm. On paper, the power figures appear closely similar to its predecessor. However, the new powerplant delivers 85 per cent of maximum torque below 3,500rpm with 17 per cent more pull at 5,500 rpm as compared to the previous model. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox which is accompanied by Ducati Quick Shift (up and down) tech. 

Oodles of electronic wizardry

Ducati has bestowed the new 1260 Enduro with loads of electronic aids to raise the safety quotient. The motorcycle features eight-levels of traction control and wheelie control along with cornering ABS, cornering lights, hill-start control, cruise control and ride-by-wire throttle. All the information is displayed on a five-inch full-colour TFT display through which the rider can control the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS). With the help of DMS, one can connect their smartphone with the display which allows receiving incoming calls, text messaging and controlling music.

Adventure-friendly cycle parts

Being a hardcore adventure motorcycle, the Multistrada 1260 Enduro comes equipped with top-notch cycle parts. The motorcycle rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel which are shod with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres. At the front, it gets Sachs 48mm upside down forks with compression, rebound and damping adjustability while the rear features a fully-adjustable monoshock with aluminum double-sided swingarm. The braking hardware consists of a pair of 320mm disc at the front and a 265mm disc at the rear, both featuring Brembo monobloc calipers. For better touring capabilities, the 1260 Enduro gets a 30-litre fuel tank which is 10-litres more than its road-biased sibling. 

Improved ergonomics

Ducati has attempted to improve the riding ergonomics of the Multistrada over the previous model. To achieve this, the new entrant gets a slightly lower-set seat and handlebar. Moreover, the bikemaker has also lowered the centre of gravity in order to improve the stability and maneuverability of the motorcycle.

Pricing

Ducati has launched the Multistrada 1260 Enduro at Rs 19.99 lakh which makes it Rs 2 lakh dearer than the Multistrada 1200 Enduro. Notably, this pricing is for the Red colour variant, whereas, the Sand paint scheme demands a premium of Rs 24,000 over the Red trim. In the full-size ADV segment, the motorcycle locks horns with the Triumph Tiger 1200 and the BMW R1250GS Adventure, in India.
