5 Most Popular ADV Bike Launches in 2019 So Far

We have seen a slew of motorcycle launches from different manufacturers this year, all from varied segments. But since we are currently in the monsoon season, there isn’t anything better than adventure motorcycles, is there? So we take a look at the top five adventure bikes that have been launched in 2019 till now.

BMW R1250 GS

The BMW R1250 GS is a replacement for the R1200 GS in India as well as global markets. Visually, the bike isn’t much different than its predecessor. However, under its skin, the R1250 is almost as good as new. Not only does it get a bigger 1254cc engine, but this motor also gets BMW’s Shift Cam technology which alters valve lift and duration and hence helps increase fuel-efficiency as well as performance. It also gets electronic knick-knacks like a 6.5-inch TFT screen, ride modes, traction control and hill-start control. BMW has priced the R1250 GS at Rs 16.85 lakhs for the standard version and Rs 20.05 lakhs for the Pro variant which gets additional electronic aids.

Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro

The Multistrada 1260 Enduro made its way to India very recently and would set you back by Rs 19.99 lakhs for the Ducati Red colour and Rs 20.23 lakhs for the Sand colour scheme. The 1260 Enduro is a more off-road friendly version of the standard Multistrada 1260 as it rides on spoke wheels shod with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II rubber, gets a bigger 30-litre fuel tank along with knuckle guards and a redesigned engine guard. The powertrain hasn’t been tinkered with as the Enduro is powered by the same 1262cc, L-twin engine that produces 156bhp of power and 128 Nm of torque. The bike also gets a five-inch TFT with Ducati Multimedia System along with rider aids like eight-levels of traction control and wheelie control, cornering ABS, cornering lights, hill-start control, cruise control and ride-by-wire throttle as standard.

Triumph Tiger 800 XCA

Triumph launched the top-of-the-line Tiger 800 XCA in India in March this year, priced at Rs 15.16 lakhs. While the XCA was available before, this is the 2019 Tiger 800 XCA which gets additional features. To begin with, it gets LED lighting and auxiliary lamps for better illumination. The bike also gets heated grips and seat which is only available as standard on the XCA variant.  In terms of electronics, the Tiger 800 XCA is equipped with six riding modes - Road, Off-road, Rain, Sport, Off-road Pro and custom along with updated traction control and cruise control system.

Benelli TRK 502/502X

Benelli wanted to tap into the growing adventure-motorcycle trend in India and hence launched the TRK 502 and TRK 502X in India. The motorcycles cost Rs 5 lakhs and Rs 5.40 lakhs each. While the 502 is touring-focused, the 502X gets spoke wheels with dual-purpose tyres and is more capable off the road. The bikes sports twin LED DRLs and a ‘beak’-like structure that defines most of the ADV segment. The bike also sports a split seat setup, engine sump guard and knuckle guards. The TRK 502X further gets a luggage rack and high-mounted exhausts as standard. The bikes are available in three colour options- red, white and grey.

Triumph Scrambler 1200

Now you must be wondering what the Triumph Scrambler 1200 is doing in this list of ADV motorcycles. Well, the Scrambler 1200 might not have tall-windscreen, large tank shrouds or the ‘beak’ up front but it has enough equipment to be classified as a mild off-road motorcycle. It gets high-mounted exhausts, an engine sump guard and fork gaiters. Triumph has further equipped the motorcycle with a TFT instrument console that has Bluetooth connectivity, Google’s turn by turn navigation and GoPro integration as well. In the electronics rider aids department, the Scrambler 1200 features a cornering ABS, traction control and five riding modes – Road, Rain, Sport, Off-Road and customisable mode. While the Scrambler 1200 is available in two variants; XE and XC in international markets, we only get the XC variant in our country. It is priced at Rs 10.73 lakhs.
