Exclusive – Bajaj Pulsar N250 to get traction control and more features!

- First Bajaj motorcycle to receive traction control

- Likely to get ABS modes too

- Spotted testing a few times already

The upcoming Bajaj Pulsar N250 has been spotted testing multiple times and now we have exclusive information about its features and all the other updates.

Our sources have revealed that the upcoming Pulsar N250 will get a traction control system. This will be the first motorcycle from Bajaj to feature the said riding aid. You can expect the traction control on the N250 to be switchable. Then, there will be ABS modes too for added safety. Bajaj is likely to offer three levels of ABS – first with the maximum ABS intrusion which can be used during rain or when riding over wet surfaces, and second with slightly more room for hard braking and less or delayed ABS engagement. The third setting could allow the rider to completely disengage the ABS at the rear wheel for slides or better feedback in terms of braking.

Similar to what we have seen on the NS range, the Pulsar N250 will also get a new fully digital instrument console. It will pack smartphone connectivity to give the rider access to call and SMS alerts while riding. This would naturally call for a revised switchgear setting and we expect the upcoming Pulsar N250 to get more buttons than before. These will be used to toggle through the settings menu and other options.

Another major update for the quarter-litre Pulsar will be its hardware. As seen on the previous test mule, it will ride on upside-down shocks. Apart from that it will get petal discs at both ends. The latter helps in better heat dissipation over conventional discs and thereby offers enhanced braking performance. The brakes will be mounted on 17-inch wheels and the N250 could get a slightly wider tyre than before. For reference, the current one uses a 130-section and the updated model might use a 140-section.

The 250cc, oil-cooled engine will be carried over and the output figures too are expected to be the same - 24.1bhp and 21.5Nm. The motor will be linked with a five-speed gearbox. Bajaj will offer the N250 in two colours – red and black.

All said and done, the changes being made to the Pulsar N250 are quite substantial and these will result in a notable price hike. As of now, Bajaj retails the Pulsar N250 at Rs. 1.50 lakh, so the new model could cost about Rs. 10,000 more.

It will rival the Suzuki Gixxer SF, and since there are going to be lots of new features, the N250 could surpass the Gixxer in terms of the overall value for money.
