The R18 Classic is based on the regular R18 and has the same styling. However, it comes with additional accessories that set it apart while adding to its touring abilities.
At the front, the BMW R18 Classic sports a large windscreen and also comes with a pair of auxiliary lights fitted on either side on the full-LED headlamp.
BMW has also reconfigured the cushioning for the rider seat to make it more comfortable on long rides. Plus, it also comes with a pillion seat as standard.
Then there are the saddlebags and the flat footrests to further add value to the R18 Classic. Not to forget the straight exhaust that has replaced the unique fishtail pipes on the standard model.
Apart from the accessories, BMW has also fitted the R18 Classic with a smaller, 16-inch wheel upfront. In comparison, the standard R18 comes with a 19-inch wheel.
The BMW R18 Classic is powered by the same 1800cc, air/oil-cooled motor that is capable of churning out 158Nm of torque at 3,000rpm. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch.
As for electronic aids, the R18 Classic is equipped with keyless start, engine drag torque control (MSR), Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and ABS as standard. It also gets three ride modes that alter the throttle response and traction control.
BMW has priced the R18 Classic at Rs 24 lakh positioning it at a premium of Rs 1.5 lakh over the R18 that costs Rs 22.5 lakh, ex-showroom.
