Hero MotoCorp has big plans to make its way to the premium bike segment. The launch of the Xtreme 200 S is the first step, but things have got little more interesting as the company might be developing an entry-level adventure bike.
As per a report on ET, the Gurgaon-based manufacturer plans to develop more bikes in the 200cc range. In fact, the designs of these bikes are ready. The report also went on to say that a high-powered off-road motorcycle will be launched in the middle of next financial year. But we believe that the bike in question is actually an adventure bike and not an off-road bike like the Impulse.
A pure off-road bike doesn’t make sense in India right now as there’s no demand. Plus, things like high seat makes it quite difficult for an average Indian buyers. Rather, an entry-level adventure will find many takers due to the road conditions in India and its practicality. During one of the Hero MotoCorp events, BikeWale was informed that Hero is closely watching the adventure bike space in India and will have some kind of action very soon.
We’re expecting Hero to showcase a concept model of the upcoming adventure bike at 2018 Auto Expo. If the company decides to use the 200cc platform or even the 250cc for that matter, then the upcoming bike will be the most affordable and accessible adventure bike in India. We contacted Hero MotoCorp to know more about this product but we’re yet to hear anything from them.
