We recently rode the 2017 Triumph Street Triple RS at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain, probably one of the best places to get a taste of the middleweight streetfighter. A replacement for the Street Triple 675R, this bike is expected to go on sale in India in the second half of this year as a rival to the Kawasaki Z800 and the Ducati Monster 821. Even with the facelift, the new Street Triple RS carries influence of the old bike’s iconic design with the bug-eye headlamps and the muscular bodywork.
The Street Triple RS gets a five-inch colour TFT instrument console which can be controlled through a five-way joystick on the switchgear.
Like the previous bike, the new Street Triple RS is powered by an inline three engine. It now displaces 765cc, delivering 121bhp and 77Nm of torque.
The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission with a slipper clutch and quickshifter which allow clutchless upshifts.
The Street Triple RS rides on 41mm Showa front forks and an Ohlins monoshock, both are adjustable for preload, compression damping and rebound damping.
The braking setup has been supplied by Brembo, dual 310mm floating discs up front and a single 220mm disc at the rear.
While previous Street Triple had to make do with just ABS, the RS also gets five riding modes and traction control.
